‘Very anyhow OG’ – Peller fires back at Ycee over illiteracy comments

Nigerian Tiktoker, Peller, has described rapper Ycee as a “very anyhow OG”.

Peller stated this while reacting to Ycee’s ‘Peller Culture’ recent remarks.

DAILY POST reports that the rapper had, during an interview on Afropolitan podcast, condemned Peller’s content on the digital space, and tagged it outrageous.

Questioning the impact and educational values of such content, Ycee stated that intelligence and academic excellence are no longer celebrated in Nigeria.

While making reference to Internet personalities like Peller as one of the bad examples, he described it as “Peller culture.”

In response, Peller, in a video on social media post faulted the singer for calling him out and referred to him as a “Very anyhow OG”.

“The same olodo uprising wey una dey use promote una noise, very anyhow OG. If you’re an elderly person, respect yourself. Must you mention names? You yourself are an illiterate because, as an elderly man with sense, you should be able to make your point without mentioning anyone’s name,” he wrote.

  • Mayweather, Pacquiao Rematch Postponed Over Financial Dispute

Mayweather, Pacquiao Rematch Postponed Over Financial Dispute

The highly anticipated rematch between boxing legends Floyd Mayweather Jnr. and Manny Pacquiao has been postponed indefinitely.

The development was confirmed on Friday June 26 by Pacquiao’s camp in the Philippines following a report that a planned Mayweather exhibition in Greece kickboxing icon Mike Zambidis this weekend had been called off after an events company connected to the Pacquiao bout had sought an injunction.

The two hall of famers, whose 2015 bout drove 4.6 million pay-per-view buys, have been at loggerheads since Mayweather stunned the boxing world by declaring a rematch that was publicized by Netflix for September, would only be an exhibition, something bitterly contested by Pacquiao.

The Pacquiao camp released a statement blaming the postponement on “a volatile mix of federal lawsuits, scheduling overbooks, and financial gridlock completely surrounding the Mayweather camp”.

Events company CSI sued Mayweather last week seeking to recover at least $4.65 million the company says it paid the fighter for exclusive rights to promote the Pacquiao rematch and an exhibition bout with former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson that failed to materialise.

The statement said the earliest a Pacquiao-Mayweather fight could now take place would be early 2027.

“Should Mayweather and CSI settle their internal contract disputes out of court, promoters will immediately pivot to rescheduling a postponed exhibition between Mayweather and Mike Tyson, tentatively targeting September 12,” the Pacquiao team statement said.

49-year-old Mayweather retired from boxing in 2017 with a perfect 50-0 record. He was to have fought an exhibition against Greek kickboxing star Mike Zambidis on Saturday June 27 in a pay-per-view event to be held at the Telekon Centre at the OAKA Olympic Complex in Athens.

The now-shelved Pacquiao bout would have rematched the fighters in the top money-spinner in boxing history.

  • Shettima Orders Early Flood Response Activation

Shettima Orders Early Flood Response Activation

The Vice President Kashim Shettima has directed the immediate activation of the Fusion and Trigger Room concept to strengthen coordination and early response to flooding across Nigeria as the rainy season intensifies.

Shettima gave the directive on Thursday during a meeting of the Anticipatory Action Task Force (AATF) at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

He also ordered the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), the AATF and other relevant agencies to review their budgets within approved allocations and set clear implementation priorities.

He said the Tinubu administration was committed to shifting from reactive emergency response to proactive disaster preparedness, stressing that preparedness, coordination and early action must become the country’s standard approach to managing flood and climate-related risks, according to a statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Communications, Stanley Nwocha.

The VP said technical consultations should begin immediately to operationalise the Fusion and Trigger Room within NEMA as a national platform for monitoring hazards, forecasting risks, coordinating agencies and activating early interventions before disasters escalate.

He also directed relevant institutions to fast-track the release and deployment of approved funds, warning that delays in accessing resources undermine anticipatory action.

“To wait until disaster strikes before releasing what we have already approved is to defeat the very purpose of acting early,” he said.

Shettima further urged state governments to take ownership of flood preparedness by leading implementation within their jurisdictions, noting that federal coordination alone would not be sufficient to tackle the challenge.

“I call on our State Governors and state institutions to participate actively and to lead implementation within their jurisdictions. Federal coordination on its own will never be sufficient.

“As Chairman of the national coordination effort, I will continue to engage with stakeholders to ensure that political leadership is translated into practical outcomes and into preparedness that can be measured on the ground,” he said.

According to Nkwocha, Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Bernard Doro, described the Federal Government’s approval of funds for anticipatory flood action as a timely intervention, calling for coordinated implementation through the national social register and digital payment platforms in collaboration with state governments.

Also, the United Nations Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator, Mohamed Fall, commended the Federal Government for approving funds for early flood response, describing the move as a demonstration of political commitment and national ownership.

He said investment in anticipatory action had proven effective in protecting lives and livelihoods.

“On behalf of development partners, I want to express our gratitude to Nigeria for always showing the way. I always say that whenever Nigeria does something of this magnitude, it serves as a blueprint for the rest of the continent; that is why the approval for this anticipatory action is so significant to us all,” Fall said.

Also speaking, the Director-General of NEMA, Zubaida Umar, said the intervention fund approved by the National Economic Council (NEC) would help prevent loss of lives and protect livelihoods, adding that the agency had already identified vulnerable communities and issued early warning alerts.

Nkwocha further noted that NEC had at its last meeting approved an N83.2 billion intervention fund to support anticipatory actions against flooding nationwide.

  • Tinubu urged to reject ex-FUOYE VC, Fasina’s ambassadorial nomination

Tinubu urged to reject ex-FUOYE VC, Fasina’s ambassadorial nomination

A coalition of civil society organisations has urged President Bola Tinubu to withdraw the ambassadorial nomination of the former Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti, FUOYE, Professor Abayomi Fasina.

The coalition, in a statement on Friday, cited unresolved allegations and ongoing court cases involving the former university don.

The groups said affirming Fasina’s nomination while legal proceedings are still pending could erode public confidence in accountability, the rule of law and Nigeria’s commitment to addressing sexual harassment.

The coalition comprises Hope Behind Bars Africa, Gender Relevance Initiative Promotion, Gender Mobile Initiative, BraveHeart Initiative, Speak Out Africa Initiative, Coalition of Public Interest Lawyers and Advocate of Rule of Law and Human Dignity.

According to groups, the controversy surrounding Fasina began in January 2025 after allegations of sexual harassment involving a female staff member of FUOYE surfaced.

The allegations sparked petitions from several civil society organisations and an investigation by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, ICPC.

“The issue before the Nigerian public is therefore not whether Professor Abayomi Fasina has been found guilty by a court of law. The constitutional presumption of innocence remains sacrosanct and must be respected.

“Rather, the issue is whether it is appropriate, prudent and consistent with the principles of public accountability to nominate an individual currently facing unresolved allegations and ongoing judicial scrutiny to represent the Federal Republic of Nigeria on the international stage,” the statement said.

DAILY POST recalls that President Tinubu on Wednesday sent the name of Professor Fasina to the Senate for confirmation as a non-career ambassador/high commissioner-designate.
