The Nerazzurri signed Akinsamiro from Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) outfit Remo Stars in January 2023.

The 21-year-old made one league appearance for Inter Milan, winning the Serie A title with the Black and Blue in the 2023/24 season.

Akinsamiro spent the following season on loan at Sampdoria, scoring once in 35 league appearances.

Former Chelsea and Manchester United striker, Radamel Falcao, is set to become Colombia’s assistant manager.

Falcao recently became a free agent after ending a two-year stay with Bogota club Millonarios.

However, as reported by The Sun, the Colombian FA has targeted the 40-year-old to become number two to national coach Nestor Lorenzo after previous assistant Luis Amaranta Perea quit to boss the Medellin club Independiente.

Falcao currently holds Colombia’s all-time goalscoring record with 36 goals from 104 appearances.

Chelsea’s former striker Radamel Falcao to land new managerial job

The Chief Magistrate Court sitting in Umuahia has ordered the remand of blogger Nnachi Divine Mark Idume at the Afara Correctional Centre over the alleged publication and circulation of false information targeting former Abia State Governor, Chief Theodore Ahamefule Orji (T.A. Orji).

Idume was arraigned in Charge No. U/306C/2026 in a suit filed by the Commissioner of Police under the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act, 2025 (as amended).

According to the prosecution, the defendant published and circulated a viral social media report alleging that operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) uncovered US$5 billion, purported pre-written election results, ₦1 trillion worth of gold necklaces, and more than 200 exotic vehicles during an alleged raid on Chief Orji’s residence in Umuahia.

The prosecution told the court that the publication was entirely false, unverified, and deliberately designed to mislead the public, generate online traffic, and damage the reputation of the former governor.

After hearing the matter, the court ordered that the defendant be remanded at the Afara Correctional Centre pending further proceedings and adjourned the case to August 27, 2026.

The case is regarded as one of the notable prosecutions under the Cybercrimes Act involving the alleged dissemination of false information through digital platforms. The legislation empowers law enforcement agencies to prosecute the deliberate spread of false or misleading online publications capable of causing reputational harm, inciting public disorder, or undermining public confidence in public institutions.

The matter is expected to resume before the Chief Magistrate Court on the adjourned date.

The family of Nigeria’s first Head of State, Major General Thomas Aguiyi-Ironsi, has said that their late father was a patriotic soldier who devoted his life to the unity and stability of Nigeria.

The family stated this at the Aguiyi-Ironsi Cenotaph in Umuahia on Wednesday while delivering an address during a wreath-laying ceremony to mark the 60th memorial of Maj.-Gen. Ironsi’s death.

The family, which spoke through Louisa Aguiyi-Ironsi, said the memorial ceremony was a call for reconciliation, peaceful coexistence, and nation-building, not for reopening old pains and debates.

According to her, Nigeria’s future should be anchored on justice, accountability, discipline, and the collective good of its citizens.

“We have gathered today to mark the 60th anniversary of his martyrdom in active service for the collective good and unity of Nigeria.

“today, we do not assemble to reopen old debates, nor to magnify historical divisions. Rather, we gather to honour a life committed to the preservation of Nigeria’s unity and the strengthening of state institutions,” Louisa Aguiyi-Ironsi said.

She urged present and future leaders to prioritize national interests above sectional considerations and to choose dialogue over conflict.

President Bola Tinubu was represented at the wreath-laying ceremony by the Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa (Rtd), while Governor Alex Otti and former Nigerian First Lady Patience Jonathan also performed the wreath-laying.
