Bauchi Gov’s son, Shamsudeen threatens legal action over alleged defamatory report

The eldest son of the Bauchi State Governor, Shamsudeen Bala Mohammed, has threatened to take legal action against an online media outlet over what he described as a defamatory publication.

The Hausa-language platform, Jaridar Najeriya, had alleged that Shamsudeen was mobilising funds to secure victory for the Bauchi South constituency ahead of the 2027 general election.

According to the report, he had purportedly declared his intention to contest the seat and claimed to have already set aside funds to ensure his success at the polls. The outlet further suggested that he was prepared to pursue his ambition “by all means necessary,” though it did not specify when or where the alleged remarks were made.

But reacting on his verified Facebook page, Shamsudeen dismissed the report as false and deliberately fabricated to damage his reputation.

“It is with shock and disbelief that I address the defamatory attempts by a reputable media house to tarnish my credibility,” he said.

“Their claims suggesting I intend to win the upcoming election through illicit means are disingenuous and designed to incite public unrest.”

He insisted that the allegations were misleading and capable of creating unnecessary tension within the public, while challenging the platform to substantiate its claims.

Shamsudeen added that he would seek redress in court if the publication fails to provide credible evidence.

“I intend to pursue legal action. The publication must now provide concrete evidence to support these baseless claims,” he stated.

The suspects were arraigned on charges bordering on criminal conspiracy to commit terrorism and other related offences.

Those charged include Isa Umar Ibrahim, Auwalu Abubakar, also known as Auwalu Dogo, and Musa Abubakar Ibrahim, alias Yaroro.

Another suspect, Adamu Isa Alhassan, is facing additional charges including culpable homicide, illegal possession of firearms, and unlawful dealing in arms and ammunition.

‘Don’t bring shame on Ndigbo, settle your issues privately’ – J Martins urges PSquare

Veteran producer and singer, J Martins has urged the defunct P-Square duo, Peter and Paul Okoye, to resolve their issues privately rather than bringing it on social media.

The ‘Cool Temper’ crooner was reacting to the recent announcement by Peter Okoye that he is changing his birthday date to a different date from that of his twin brother due to alleged betrayal by Paul and their elder brother, Jude.

J Martins, who was the group’s producer for decades, insisted that Peter’s decision to change his birthday date over disagreements makes no sense.

He urged the Okoyes to resolve their differences amicably to avoid bringing shame on the Igbo nation.

On his X handle, Martins wrote, “These are my brothers for more than two decades. I still don’t understand why one will just wake up decades to change his own birthday separate from his twin brother?

“@PeterPSquare and RudeboyPsquare can we fix these stuff inside our house and bring this shame on ‘Ndi Igbo nke anyi’”.
