In addition, the actress died from sepsis after suffering from meningitis in a Los Angeles hospital , according to her manager.

“She was the greatest. She loved cats. She worked with cat rescues with us. She was very to herself,” said Ryan, her friend and manager of 15 years.

    “She was not very Hollywood.

“She’d rather eat at Bob’s Big Boy and go home with the cats. She loved acting but wasn’t into the fame scene,”he said.

Daveigh Elizabeth Chase born in July 24, 1990 was an American actress.

Tension as gunshots erupt near Niger Republic capital’s airport

There was pandemonium on Thursday morning when gunfire erupted at the airport in Niger’s capital, Niamey, several months after a major jihadist attack at the facility.

The first shooting, which reportedly took place at 6:00 am, was said to have come from the airport’s entrance and continued two hours later.

DAILY POST recalls that in January, Diori Hamani international airport in the capital was targeted in an unprecedented attack claimed by the Islamic State in the Sahel, EIS, and repelled by Nigerien armed forces and allied Russian fighters.

Before then, jihadist violence in Niger had been contained to other parts of the country.

After the attack, thousands of illegally built homes were torn down in a sprawling neighbourhood near the airport, while authorities said the district had been infiltrated by jihadists to carry out the attack.

DAILY POST reports that Niger, a country in West Africa’s Sahel region, has for a decade battled violence by armed groups linked to Al-Qaeda and the Islamic State group.

  • World Cup: ‘Not even a VAR check with Messi’ – South Africa boss Hugo Broos slams officiating

World Cup: ‘Not even a VAR check with Messi’ – South Africa boss Hugo Broos slams officiating

South Africa’s coach, Hugo Broos, has referenced Argentine legend Lionel Messi to illustrate his belief that the FIFA World Cup has been unjust towards his players.

South African star Themba Zwane received a three-match suspension following a red card in their opening match against Mexico.

Broos addressed the media prior to his team’s second group match at the FIFA World Cup against Czechia.

He said that he views the red card given to Zwane as excessive, especially considering that Argentina’s captain committed a hazardous foul that was not even subjected to VAR review.

“I believe the red card is too harsh. I do not consider it a red card when I reflect on what occurred yesterday with [Lionel] Messi. I certainly disagree with that. There was not even a VAR check for Messi,” he stated.

The experienced midfielder Zwane was brought on as a substitute for South Africa against Mexico but was dismissed in the 84th minute.

The 36-year-old seemingly struck Mexican player Roberto Alvarado in the face while being obstructed, prompting VAR to suggest that violent conduct had been detected.

Zwane now risks missing the rest of the tournament, as FIFA has imposed an additional two-game suspension on top of the mandatory one-game ban for a red card due to violent conduct.

Bafana Bafana could welcome him back if they progress beyond the group stage and into the Round of 32.

Lionel Messi avoided a red card during the Argentina-Algeria match after a clash with Aissa Mandi.

The 38-year-old appeared to make contact with the calf of the Algerian defender while contesting the ball but was not penalized, raising concerns about the officiating.

Accord Party: I have not pledged allegiance to Adeleke – Imumolen

Factional presidential candidate Accord Party in the forthcoming 2027 general elections, Chris Imumolen, has denied pledging allegiance to Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke.

Featuring in an interview on Arise Television’s ‘Day Break’ on Thursday, Imumolen said he has no issue with anyone aspiring to any political office.

He noted that he only wants the party’s rightful membership and structure to be restored through the proper legal process before the court.

“I have not pledged any personal allegiance to Governor Adeleke.I have no issue with anyone aspiring to political office.

“My only concern is ensuring that the right process is followed in Accord, so the party does not produce a governor who could lose office over irregularities.

“Accord does not produce a governor who would eventually lose the seat because of some inappropriate process which have brought the person in.

“I’m only trying to make sure that the chairmanship position of Accord, which I rightfully won is gotten back through the right process, which is the court,” he said.

  • Nigeria’s Mobility Market Attracts Fresh Expansion Push

Nigeria’s Mobility Market Attracts Fresh Expansion Push

TVS Motor Company has expanded its distribution network in Nigeria through a strategic partnership with Enviable Tricycle Auto Parts Limited, a move aimed at increasing the availability of its two- and three-wheeler products and strengthening its presence in one of Africa’s largest mobility markets.

Under the arrangement, Enviable Tricycle Auto Parts Limited will serve as an additional distributor for TVS Motor products and services across Nigeria, supporting the company’s efforts to widen market coverage and improve customer access to sales, servicing and spare parts.

The partnership is expected to significantly increase TVS Motor’s operational footprint in the country, with plans to expand its network from 17 outlets to 47 locations nationwide.

The expansion will include the establishment of additional 3S facilities—sales, service and spare parts centres—across key commercial and transportation hubs.

The development comes as competition intensifies in Nigeria’s motorcycle and tricycle market, where demand for affordable mobility solutions continues to grow amid rising urbanisation, expanding informal transportation networks and increasing interest in last-mile delivery services.

Speaking on the partnership, President of International Business at TVS Motor Company, Peyman Kargar, described Nigeria as a strategically important market for the company’s global operations.

He said the company remains focused on strengthening its distribution capabilities, improving customer experience and building a scalable business model capable of supporting long-term growth in the region.

According to Kargar, Nigeria has remained one of TVS Motor’s key markets in Africa, which contributes substantially to the company’s international business performance.

Industry data released by the company showed that Africa accounted for approximately 25 per cent of TVS Motor’s overall sales in the 2025 financial year.

The continent also represents the largest regional contributor to the company’s international operations, generating more than half of its global operating revenue and nearly 70 per cent of export unit volumes.

Managing Director of Enviable Tricycle Auto Parts Limited, Ituma Chukwuemeka Enviable, said the partnership would leverage the firm’s existing distribution and service infrastructure to enhance market penetration and improve customer support across the country.

He noted that the collaboration would combine TVS Motor’s product portfolio with Enviable’s growing nationwide network, creating opportunities to extend sales reach and after-sales services to a broader customer base.

The expanded distribution arrangement could strengthen TVS Motor’s competitive position in Nigeria’s highly fragmented two- and three-wheeler market, where manufacturers are increasingly investing in dealer networks, service centres and spare parts availability to improve customer retention.

The company also indicated that the enlarged network would support the introduction of additional vehicle models into the Nigerian market.

New product launches are expected across multiple categories as TVS seeks to broaden its offerings and cater to evolving consumer preferences.

The latest expansion underscores the growing importance of Nigeria and the wider African market to global vehicle manufacturers seeking growth opportunities beyond traditional markets, particularly in segments driven by commercial transportation, logistics and urban mobility.

Governors of the 36 states in the country, under the aegis of the Nigerian Governors Forum, NGF, have thrown their weight behind the establishment of state police.

The governors expressed this support after their second meeting held in Abuja, which stretched from Wednesday into the early hours of Thursday.

They, however, stressed that any new policing structure must be backed by clear constitutional provisions and must protect citizens’ rights.

DAILY POST reports that the meeting focused on major national issues, including security, electricity reform, and nutrition.

However, discussions around state policing dominated deliberations as insecurity continues to remain a pressing concern across many parts of the country.

According to a communiqué signed by the NGF Chairman and governor of Kwara state, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, the governors disclosed that they reviewed fresh progress made toward creating a workable state police system.

The Forum said members received detailed presentations from the NGF Secretariat and a delegation of state Attorneys-General on the ongoing efforts to support the establishment of state police across Nigeria.
