United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement, ICE, has deported a Nigerian, Ayodeji Ajayi, over domestic violence and other criminal convictions.

The Immigration authorities said that the deportation is part of ongoing immigration enforcement efforts.

The agency disclosed that Ajayi entered the United States in 2007 on a student visa but remained in the country after leaving school, violating the terms of his stay.

According to the agency, Ajayi later built up a criminal record that included convictions for domestic violence, trespassing, intimidation and obstruction.

It also stated that his criminal history contained allegations and charges related to kidnapping, rape and family neglect.

The agency announced the deportation in a statement shared on its official X account, describing the action as part of the administration’s efforts to remove undocumented immigrants with criminal records from the country.

The deportation came as US authorities continue to intensify enforcement measures targeting non-citizens with criminal histories.

Man Who Killed Two Nigerian Students Sentenced To Life In Jail In Canada

A man has been sentenced to life imprisonment, with no chance of parole for 25 years, for his role in a nightclub shooting in Vaughan that claimed the lives of two people and left another seriously wo¥nded.

The incident occurred at ATL Lounge, located near Highway 7 and Keele Street, in the early hours of July 23, 2022. Authorities said a confrontation inside the nightclub escalated before gunfire erupted.

The shooting resulted in the deaths of two security personnel, 25-year-old Tosin Amos-Arowoshegbe and 22-year-old Chibueze Momah. A 20-year-old woman also sustained serious injuries but survived the attack.

Following the incident, York Regional Police homicide detectives launched a joint investigation with the U.S. Marshals Service and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. A nationwide warrant was issued for Kensworth Alton Francis.

Francis was eventually apprehended by U.S. Marshals in Hartford, Connecticut, on March 24, 2024, nearly two years after the shooting. He was later extradited to Canada to face trial in York Region.

After hearing the case, a jury found Francis guilty on two counts of first-degree m¥rder and one count of unlawfully causing bodily harm. He was sentenced by the Ontario Court of Justice in Newmarket.

The court handed him two life sentences for the m¥rder convictions, with parole eligibility barred for 25 years, along with an additional eight-year sentence for causing bodily harm. All sentences will run concurrently.

Peter Obi not a builder, abandons his people — Ahanotu

Former Labour Party National Youth Leader, Prince Kennedy Ahanotu, has criticised former presidential candidate of the party, Mr Peter Obi, accusing him of failing to build enduring political structures and abandoning those who support him.

Speaking on TVC News, Ahanotu argued that Obi’s political history shows a pattern of moving from one platform to another without strengthening existing structures.

“Peter Obi is not a builder of men; he abandons his own people,” he said, adding that genuine leadership required developing institutions and empowering followers rather than relying solely on personal popularity.

Ahanotu also questioned Obi’s commitment to political parties, citing his movements across different platforms over the years.

The former Labour Party chieftain maintained that strong political leadership should be measured by the ability to nurture loyal structures capable of surviving beyond an individual’s influence.

World Cup : Ghanaian Witch Doctor Bows To Harm Harry Kane

A Ghanaian witch doctor is working on putting a ‘curse’ on Harry Kane before England take on his country in the World Cup, reports ladbible.com.

England will be aiming to secure top spot in Group L when Thomas Tuchel’s side face Ghana in their second fixture today in Boston.

The Three Lions defeated Croatia 4-2 in their opening match, with Harry Kane grabbing two goals as he aims to claim a second World Cup Golden Boot and fire England to triumph for the first time since 1966.

However, Ghana’s most famous witch doctor, Nana Kwaku Bonsam, is doing everything in his power to stop Kane from scoring against the Black Stars.

According to the Daily Star, Nana, whose name translates literally as ‘Devil of Wednesday’, is concocting a spell designed to stop Kane in his tracks.

“I am working on Harry Kane. I have shown what I am capable of before, so I know what work I must do to stop him. I am very famous for my predictions,” he said.

“I am not wishing him serious injury. It will be just enough to stop him against my country. I will do my work so that it can help Ghana.”

This isn’t the first time that the sorcery of witch doctors and football have clashed.

In fact, CAF – Confederation of African Football – outright banned ‘team advisors’ a euphemism for witch doctor, from any role within teams competing at the Africa Cup of Nations way back in 2002.

Yet, that hasn’t stopped them from still trying to have an impact on the sport.

In 2014, Nana claimed credit for a knee injury suffered by Cristiano Ronaldo ahead of Portugal’s World Cup match with Ghana.

Nana said at the time: “I know what Cristiano Ronaldo’s injury is about, I’m working on him. I am very serious about it.

“I said it four months ago that I will work on Cristiano Ronaldo seriously and rule him out of the World up or at least prevent him from playing against Ghana and the best thing I can do is to keep him out though injury.

“This injury can never be cured by any medic, they can never see what is causing the injury because it is spiritual. Today, it is his knee, tomorrow it is his thigh, next day it is something else.”

England fans probably don’t have too much to worry about however, given that Portugal beat Ghana 2-1 at that 2014 World Cup, with a certain Ronaldo scoring a late winner.

Katsina police arrest man over alleged sale of adulterated, unsafe milk

Police in Katsina State have arrested a man accused of tampering with expired powdered milk and selling it to members of the public in Funtua local government area.

The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Sadiq-Aliyu, said in a statement on Monday that officers from the Makera Police Division arrested the suspect after receiving credible intelligence.

According to him, the suspect was intercepted on June 14 with 10 bags of powdered milk believed to be expired and unsafe for consumption.

Investigators reportedly found that the suspect allegedly mixed the expired milk with genuine products before repackaging it in fake bags and selling it to unsuspecting customers.

Police said the recovered products have been kept as evidence, while the suspect remains in custody pending further investigation.

Sadiq-Aliyu said the suspect would be arraigned in court after the investigation is concluded.

He added that the alleged offences contravene Sections 152 and 154 of the Penal Code Law 2021 (as amended), which prohibit the sale and adulteration of harmful food and drinks.

“The suspect is in custody as the investigation proceeds. He will be formally arraigned and charged in a court of competent jurisdiction upon the conclusion of the investigation,” the statement added.

The Commissioner of Police, Ali Umar-Fage, warned traders and business owners against engaging in activities that could endanger public health and urged residents to report suspicious business activities to the nearest police station.

  • U.S. Recovers $3.7bn Medicare Fraud Fugitive From Turkey

U.S. Recovers $3.7bn Medicare Fraud Fugitive From Turkey

A fugitive accused of helping mastermind one of the largest Medicare fraud schemes in United States history is back on American soil after the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) tracked him down in Turkey and flew him home to face charges, the bureau announced on Monday.

Ibrahim Khaldoon Hilmi was recently detained by Turkish authorities after he fled the U.S. in May 2025.

The FBI’s Critical Incident Response Group flew out to Turkey and transported Hilmi to the U.S. on Friday through a foreign transfer of custody operation.

FBI Director Kash Patel announced the capture on Monday, describing it as a major victory in the bureau’s effort to track down fugitives accused of stealing taxpayer dollars.

“Ibrahim Khaldoon Hilmi is charged with one of the biggest Medicare scams in history — allegedly orchestrating a massive $3.7bn scheme to defraud Medicare,” Patel said.

“He’s been on the run since May of 2025 — but we got him.”

Patel also thanked U.S. Ambassador to Turkey Tom Barrack, saying the case against Hilmi was only possible thanks to his “invaluable” and “tireless work.”

U.S. Vice President JD Vance, who personally heads the White House Task Force on healthcare fraud, also celebrated the operation on Tuesday, describing it as a monumental triumph for the administration’s aggressive crackdown on corporate and healthcare crime

Vance vowed that thieves who target American taxpayers will find no “safe harbour”anywhere in the world, and warned that federal authorities would continue to pursue global dragnets against corrupt actors who target public funds.

The arrest marks the second high-profile return of an alleged Medicare fraud fugitive in less than a week.

On Thursday, the FBI announced it had brought back Herbert Kimble, who investigators say had been on the run since 2024 after allegedly orchestrating a separate Medicare fraud scheme worth approximately $1.3bn.

The two cases involve roughly $5bn in alleged fraud targeting taxpayer-funded healthcare programmes.

Patel said Hilmi’s return demonstrates that suspects accused of large-scale fraud will be pursued regardless of where they flee.

“This is yet another massive win for the FBI’s war on fraudsters with the White House Task Force led by VP Vance — and a monumental victory for the Trump administration, showing that any criminal actor who steals from the American taxpayer will be caught, no matter where they try to hide,” he said.

Hilmi is expected to be formally charged in court. No trial date has been set.

The National President of the AGN, Abubakar Yakubu, confirmed the development on Saturday while speaking to journalists.

His comments came after a viral video showing Benedict Johnson undergoing an MRI scan sparked concerns about the actor’s health.

According to Yakubu, the guild is aware of the actor’s condition and is providing support to ensure that the surgery is successful.

“Yes, he is ill. Actually, he is ill and requires surgery. The guild is aware, and we are lending our full support to ensure that he undergoes this surgery,” Yakubu stated.

2026 World Cup: Senegal ‘suffering from curse’ of AFCON winner

Senegal’s narrow 3-2 defeat to Norway in their second group fixture at the 2026 World Cup, leaves them on the brink of elimination.

The Teranga Lions won the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations against hosts Morocco, before they were controversially stripped of the title by CAF.

The case is currently at the Court of Arbitration.

However, historically, AFCON winners have found it difficult to translate their Nations Cup successes to the World Cup in the immediate aftermath of their continental glory.

In the past, only Nigeria (1994), Nigeria (2014) and Senegal (2022) have gone past the group stages while they were reigning African champions.

The winners in 1988, Cameroon, went all the way to the quarterfinals in 1990, but by then, they had been dethroned as African champions by Algeria.

In fact, it’s far more common for the reigning AFCON champions to fail to qualify for the competition, let alone flop in the group stage, with success in the continent rarely a guarantee of an impressive World Cup campaign.

Senegal, however, still stand a chance of crawling into the Round of 32, as the eight best third-placed teams can still progress to the knockouts.

But they would need a win against Iraq in their final group game.
