Don’t marry if you can’t submit to husband — Pastor Abel Damina tells feminists

The founder of Power City International, Pastor Abel Damina, has asked feminists never to get married if they cannot submit to husbands.

Damina made this call while speaking to his congregation during a church service.

He described feminism as a positive ideology when it focuses on securing equal rights and opportunities for women in politics, the economy, and society.

“Feminism is ladies fighting for equal rights in society, which is ideal. It’s a very wonderful ideology, and it should be like that.

“If a lady doesn’t want to submit to a husband, don’t marry. It’s not a sin for you to be alone and die single. Don’t marry, because if you marry, you will submit one way or the other,” he stated.

However, the cleric argued that some women have taken the concept beyond the pursuit of equality, adopting attitudes that reject male authority while still desiring marriage.

Damina further linked the issue of submission in marriage to Christian faith, saying that believers are first called to submit themselves to Christ.

Gov Alia hails National Assembly over passage of State Police Bill

Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, has applauded the National Assembly for approving the State Police Bill, describing the development as a major milestone in efforts to strengthen security across the country.

In a statement issued on Thursday by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Tersoo Kula, the governor said the legislation, which provides for the establishment of state police structures to operate alongside the Nigeria Police Force, represents a bold step toward addressing the nation’s security challenges.

Governor Alia noted that he has consistently supported the creation of state police, maintaining that decentralizing policing would improve the nation’s security framework and provide better protection for citizens and their property.

According to him, the House of Representatives had earlier passed the bill, while the Senate’s recent concurrence demonstrates the commitment of federal lawmakers to tackling the country’s persistent insecurity.

The governor stated that state police would be better positioned to work closely with communities, allowing for quicker responses to security threats through a deeper understanding of local cultures, terrain, and social dynamics.

He also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what he described as visionary leadership and dedication to reforms aimed at improving Nigeria’s security architecture, an issue that has dominated national conversations for years.

Alia reassured Benue residents that his administration would continue to prioritize investments in security and support initiatives designed to promote peace, safety, and sustainable development in the state and across Nigeria.

Adamawa begins 2026 malaria prevention campaign

The Adamawa State Government has commenced its 2026 seasonal campaign to protect residents against malaria.

The exercise involves the administration of malaria medicines to children and the distribution of mosquito nets to households.

Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, during the flag-off of the programme on Thursday, said the 2026 Integrated Seasonal Malaria Chemoprevention (SMC) and Insecticide-Treated Net (ITN) Campaign aims to reduce the burden of malaria across the state.

The campaign is expected to include the distribution of 2.583 million insecticide-treated mosquito nets, as well as the administration of 4.5 million doses of antimalarial medicines to children aged between three and 59 months.

Representing Governor Fintiri at the flag-off in Yola was his deputy, Professor Kaletapwa Farauta, who described the event as a milestone in the state’s collective efforts to combat malaria.

She said the government recognises malaria’s devastating impact on families and communities and remains committed to implementing effective interventions.

“The success of malaria control efforts relies heavily on strong partnerships,” Farauta said, commending implementing partners, including the Society for Family Health (SFH), Management Sciences for Health (MSH), and Catholic Relief Services (CRS), for their collaboration.

Airline Pilot Jailed For Raping 12 Year Old Girl

A former airline pilot has been jailed for raping a 12-year-old girl after meeting and grooming her on Instagram.

Kwame Yeboah, 30, of Drake Way, Reading, first made contact with the child online in late 2025.

Their conversations began ordinarily, however, the nature of later messages and her appearance when they met in person would have made it clear to him that she was significantly younger and could not consent to any sexual activity with him.

Yeboah sent the child intimate images of himself and the conversations became increasingly sexual.

He called her around twice a week, making her believe she was important to him and that he cared about her.

In February 2026, Yeboah travelled from Reading to Merseyside to meet the child late in the evening. He drove her around before taking her to an isolated location, where he raped her three times.

The child later told police she struggled to process what was happening and felt nervous and confused.

Afterwards, Yeboah dropped her off near where he had picked her up and drove away.

A few days later, a friend of the victim told her mother what had happened. The matter was reported to police and Yeboah was identified using the details he had given the child.

Yeboah was arrested and interviewed, but answered “no comment” to all questions.

He was charged with three counts of rape, based on the fact that a child under 13 does not have the legal capacity to consent to any form of sexual activity, and one count of sexual assault.

At Liverpool Crown Court on 22 April 2026, Yeboah pleaded guilty to all charges and on 24 June 2026, he was sentenced to 9 years and 4 months imprisonment.

The deceased persons were found unalive at the retired broadcaster’s residence in the Owode-Egba area of Ogun State on June 21, while her Lexus RX 330 vehicle was reported missing from the premises.

Speaking to newsmen today, June 25, the state Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, said following the report of the incident, the police swung into action and during their investigation, recovered the stolen vehicle of the deceased broadcaster.

He mentioned that a handwritten note, recovered from the scene of the incident, was submitted for forensic examination and analysis, which generated valuable investigative leads.

His confessional statement led to the arrest of his accomplices, Sakirudeen Abdulraheem Ayoola, 27, a security guard, and Sobu Obafunsho, 36, a bricklayer.

According to the commissioner, the suspect told investigators that he planned the attack over grievances stemming from the period he worked as a security guard for the deceased.

“The suspect stated that the murder of Madam Olakitan Oyesiku was intended to ‘teach her a lesson,” Ojajuni added.

He said the suspects first overpowered the deceased security guard before gaining access into the broadcaster’s apartment and k!lling her. Thereafter, they proceeded to k!lling the security guard.

The commissioner further disclosed that detectives recovered several exhibits linked to the crime, including a broken hammer, a cutlass, a plank, and a black pen.
