NSCDC busts interstate car-snatching syndicate across six states

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has dismantled a notorious interstate car-snatching syndicate operating across the Federal Capital Territory, Nasarawa, Kaduna, Benue, Kogi and Plateau states.

This was contained in a press statement signed by Afolabi Babawale, Assistant Commandant and Corps National Public Relations Officer of the NSCDC, obtained by DAILY POST.

He said the successes were recorded following the directive of the Commandant General, Prof. Ahmed Abubakar Audi.

According to the statement: “Acting on credible intelligence, the Commandant General’s Special Intelligence Squad arrested six suspects, Hassan Bukar, Adam Musa (aka Yellow), Ibrahim Haruna (aka Biggie), Adamu Mohammed, Sahal Abdullahi Aliyu, and Abubakar Yusuf, while other accomplices remain at large.”

Preliminary investigations revealed that the syndicate specialised in stealing vehicles, dismantling them through complicit scrap dealers, and selling parts to conceal evidence.

Investigations further linked the suspects to a wider criminal network involving coordinated supply, resale and concealment of stolen vehicles across multiple states.

The NSCDC confirmed that charges bordering on criminal conspiracy, theft, receiving stolen property and aiding concealment have been established under relevant provisions of the Penal Code.

The Corps reaffirmed its commitment to dismantling criminal networks, protecting critical national assets and ensuring that all suspects are prosecuted to serve as a deterrent to others.

The NSCDC advised the public to verify vehicle ownership documents before purchase and report suspicious transactions to security agencies.

Lawyer petitions IGP over alleged killing of missing activist Dadiyata

A Kano-based legal practitioner, Abba Hikima, has petitioned the Nigeria Police Force Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Olatunji Rilwan Disu, demanding an immediate, independent and transparent investigation into allegations surrounding the disappearance and alleged killing of missing activist, Abubakar Idris.

Hikima disclosed this in a petition dated May 8, 2026, which he shared on his Facebook page alongside copies of the document addressed to the Nigeria Police Force Headquarters in Abuja.

In the petition, the lawyer referenced allegations reportedly made by Muhammad Musa Kamarawa, a former Senior Special Assistant to former Zamfara State Governor Bello Matawalle.

According to the petition, Kamarawa allegedly accused CSP Hussaini Gimba and CSP Hassan Gimba of involvement in Dadiyata’s alleged killing.

The petition quoted Kamarawa as saying that “they threatened to kill me as they killed Dadiyata and Saminu S/Fada Gusau amongst others in my presence at Operations Yaki Kaduna.”

Describing the allegation as “an extremely grave matter,” Hikima said it should not be ignored by police authorities, especially as Dadiyata has remained missing since August 2019.

He noted that the case continues to generate public concern and unanswered questions across the country.

“Accordingly, where a citizen expressly claims that he witnessed the killing of Dadiyata and directly linked same to named police officers, there is an urgent need for a thorough, independent and credible investigation into the allegation,” part of the petition read.

The lawyer further argued that if the allegations were false, a proper investigation would clear the officers’ names and restore public confidence.

“However, if there is any truth whatsoever in the allegations, then justice must be allowed to take its full course irrespective of rank, office or influence,” he added.

Hikima urged the IGP to immediately constitute an independent investigative panel to probe the allegations against the two senior police officers and make the findings public.

  • Ado-Odo: Olori-Ebi to coordinate nomination of Olofin as ruling house headship tussle ends

Ado-Odo: Olori-Ebi to coordinate nomination of Olofin as ruling house headship tussle ends

The leadership crisis within the Okewaye Ruling House of Ado-Odo in Ogun State has been resolved following a settlement reached at the Ogun State High Court sitting in Idi-Oke.

The resolution, contained in the terms of settlement filed in Suit No. HCI/19/2024, affirmed Prince Sulaimon Adedimeji as the recognised Head (Olori-Ebi) of the Okewaye Ruling House.

The suit was instituted by Adedimeji and three others on behalf of the ruling house against the Ogun State Government and other parties, including Prince Mufutau Adekunle, who had also laid claim to the position.

As part of the settlement, Adekunle conceded the leadership of the ruling house to Adedimeji and agreed to step aside.

In a public notice referencing the agreement and made available to DAILY POST on Friday, Adekunle said his decision to relinquish the position was voluntary and aimed at fostering peace and unity within the ruling house and the broader Ado-Odo community.

“I have voluntarily conceded the position of Head of Family of the Okewaye Ruling House to Prince (Chief) Sulaimon Babatunde Adedimeji pursuant to the Memorandum of Understanding submitted before the Ogun State High Court, Idi-Oke, in Suit No. HCI/19/2024,” he stated.

He added that the decision was taken “in the interest of posterity, justice, unity, peace and the continuous progress of the Okewaye Ruling House and the entire Ado-Odo community.”

Following the development, residents, particularly within Ado-Odo, have been advised to refrain from engaging in any activities relating to chieftaincy titles connected to the previously disputed leadership.

The advisory cautioned members of the public against committing resources to such processes, noting that the leadership issue within the ruling house has been conclusively resolved.

“The general public is hereby advised to exercise caution in order not to waste resources on any fruitless engagement or ceremony,” he added.

The parties subsequently urged the court to adopt the terms of settlement as a consent judgment, effectively ending the legal contest over the leadership of the ruling house.

By the agreement, Adedimeji is now the sole authority empowered to act on behalf of the Okewaye Ruling House in matters relating to the nomination or recommendation of candidates for the stool of the Olofin of Ado-Odo, in line with the 1956 chieftaincy declaration.

The settlement also resolved all disputes between the parties, with each side agreeing to bear its respective legal costs.

Findings indicated that the resolution was reached to promote unity and prevent prolonged litigation capable of disrupting traditional processes within the community.

Legal representatives to both parties endorsed the agreement, which they said would pave the way for stability and smoother traditional governance in Ado-Odo.

Nigerian singer Seyi Vibez has hit hard at his colleague, Adekunle Gold, criticising his music and fashion style.

Vibez described Gold as a mediocre artiste with mediocre swag.

“Adekunle Gold, you’re wack, and your swag is wack. Old fool!” he wrote via his X handle on Friday, to the shock of many.

The cause of the outburst is yet to be ascertained. However, some fans are speculating that it could be due to Adekunle Gold’s claim that his “fuji” is more loved than ‘Fuji Moto,’ the title of one of Seyi Vibez’s hit songs, in his new song, ‘Life Of The Faaji.’

“They love my fuji / This one no be fuji moto,” he sings.
