EPL: ‘They’re not among the best’ – Emmanuel Petit names players Arsenal must replace

Arsenal legend, Emmanuel Petit has mentioned several players who should be let go by the club in the next transfer window.

He identified the specific area where the team needs to work on their performance this summer.

The Gunners haven’t won a big trophy since 2020 and have come in second place in the last three Premier League seasons.

This season, they are trying to win both the league championship and the UEFA Champions League prize.

They lost the EFL Cup final to Manchester City.

Nevertheless, Petit said the north London team still needs stronger wingers.

When asked about the Gunners’ interest in Newcastle United’s Anthony Gordon, the Frenchman told Andy’s Bet Club, “I do know that if Arsenal want to take the next step, which means playing good football all season, they need to bring in talented wingers.

“Look at Bayern Munich. Look at Paris Saint-Germain. Those teams that play very good, controlling football and are winning the best prizes have that kind of player.

“Arsenal have Bukayo Saka, who has been injured and has had a tough time this season so far. Noni Madueke, in my opinion, is a decent player, but he is not among the elite in this position.

“It’s pretty much the same on the left wing with Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard. but they are not among the best in their respective positions,” he added.

War: ‘US not reliable’ – Iran rejects second round of peace talks in Pakistan

Iran has said it will not join the second round of talks with the Uniited States in Pakistan.

On Sunday, the Iranian state broadcaster, IRIB reported, based on information from Iranian sources, that “there are no current plans to take part in the next round of talks between Iran and the US.”

Earlier, the Fars and Tasnim news agencies mentioned that some sources said “the overall mood is not very positive,” and pointed out that removing the US blockade of Iranian ports is a key condition for any kind of negotiations.

Meanwhile, President Donald Trump has told US negotiators to go to Pakistan on Monday, just a few days before a ceasefire in the Middle East is supposed to end.

Iran decided not to continue talks and mentioned that “Washington’s demands are too much, their expectations are not realistic, they keep changing their stance, they often contradict themselves, and they maintain a naval blockade, which Iran sees as a violation of the ceasefire,” according to the official IRNA news agency.

Just hours prior to Iran’s announcement, Trump indicated that his negotiators would arrive in Islamabad on Monday evening.

A White House representative said the group will be led by Vice President JD Vance and will also have Middle East envoy, Steve Witkoff and Trump’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner.

2027: ‘They’ll defeat him’ – Udenta names ADC ticket to send Tinubu packing

A frontline political scientist and public affairs analyst, Udenta Udenta, has stated that a presidential ticket featuring a strong southern candidate like Peter Obi alongside a credible northern running mate could potentially defeat President Bola Tinubu in the upcoming 2027 general elections.

Udenta, who is a founding national secretary of the Alliance for Democracy, expressed these views while appearing as a guest on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics.

He posited that the current political environment is conducive to a broad-based opposition alliance that emphasizes regional balance.

He said, “Any pairing today, a Peter Obi in the South and anyone else in the North, will defeat Bola Tinubu in 2027.”

The professor highlighted that Obi is the most prominent opposition figure in southern Nigeria, noting that the selection of a northern counterpart would be crucial for the opposition’s success.

He added, “The pairing in the South, what is evident and apparent, is Peter Obi, essentially in the South.

“The decision regarding who they choose in the North is for them to determine.”

Udenta further argued that deteriorating economic conditions could influence voter behavior as the next election approaches, indicating that public sentiment towards the current administration may negatively impact the ruling party.

He continued, “For Nigerians to long for the Buhari presidency is indicative of the failures of the Tinubu-led government. The question the President must consider as Nigerians approach an election is not about rhetoric or showmanship.

“How were we on May 29, 2023, and how are we today? The response will be clear: We are in a worse situation today than we were under the Buhari presidency.

“Abstract figures regarding macroeconomic stability or reduced inflation will not resonate with the populace; it is hunger that will speak for them. What truly matters is the standard of living.”

The public affairs analyst’s comments arise amid ongoing conversations within opposition factions about the possibility of forming a united front in preparation for the 2027 election.

2027: Peter Obi, Kwankwaso supporters collapse structures into OK Movement

Ahead of the 2027 presidential election, supporters of Peter Obi and those of Rabiu Kwankwaso have collapsed their structures into OK Movement.

A statement signed by Justin Ijeh, its National Publicity Secretary, said that they believe that national renewal is not the task of a single tribe, but the duty of a united people.

The new Movement has vowed to unite Nigerians across divides to confront hardship, restore accountable leadership, and drive a decisive national rebirth.

The statement said: “Nigeria stands at a defining crossroads. Today, as our people endure the weight of unprecedented economic hardship, the soaring cost of living, and the persistent shadow of insecurity, the Obi–Kwankwaso (OK) Movement formally announces the unveiling of its national and state structures.

“This is more than a political milestone; it is the birth of a coordinated, nationwide engine for systemic reform and national rebirth.

“We recognise the exhaustion felt in every Nigerian household. From the farmer unable to harvest in safety to the entrepreneur stifled by a volatile economy, the struggle is real. Yet, in this moment of darkness, the OK Movement stands as a beacon of resolute hope.

“Our mission is anchored in a singular, unwavering conviction: Nigeria will be OK. We do not offer mere rhetoric; we offer a structured, disciplined pathway towards a country that works, not for the few, but for every citizen.

“The OK Movement is a home for all well-meaning Nigerians. We reject the tired politics of tribalism, regionalism, and religious sentiment that have long been used to keep our people divided while the nation falters.

“Our strength lies in our diversity, and our progress depends on our unity. We are mobilising from the grassroots to the capital, fostering a shared identity built on integrity, competence, and the collective responsibility to rescue our future. We believe that national renewal is not the task of a single tribe, but the duty of a united people.

“Our vision is deeply rooted in the highest aspirations of our land. We are guided by the profound prayer found in the third stanza of our National Anthem: ‘Oh God of all creation, grant this our one request. Help us to build a nation where no man is oppressed, and so, with peace and plenty, Nigeria may be blessed.’

“This is not merely a lyric; it is our blueprint. We seek to build a Nigeria where justice is a right, not a privilege, a nation where ‘plenty’ is shared through economic stability, and ‘peace’ is secured through decisive leadership.

“This is an open invitation to every Nigerian who believes that our current reality need not be our final destiny.

“Through solidarity, purposeful leadership, and the courage to demand better, we will prevail. The structures are set. The vision is clear. The movement is here. Together, we will make Nigeria OK.”

EPL: SuperComputer predicts shock title winners after Man City beat Arsenal 2-1

The Opta SuperComputer has insisted that Arsenal will still win the Premier League title despite a 2-1 defeat at Manchester City on Sunday.

It was the second consecutive loss suffered by the league leaders, after they lost 2-1 at home to Bournemouth last weekend.

The result meant that Pep Guardiola’s men closed the gap between themselves and the Gunners to three points.

Before kick-off, the Opta installed Arsenal as huge favourites to become champions with a 85.2% probability, while City had 14.8%.

But after the game at the Etihad, rather than City moving into the driving seat, the SuperComputer rates Arsenal’s chances of winning the title at 73.0%.

That means City have a 27% chance of finishing top, although they could overtake Mikel Arteta’s men with a win at Burnley on Wednesday.
