Owerri Zone senatorial ticket: Ndudiri condemns Mbata’s emergence as APC candidate

A chieftain of the Action Peoples Party, APP, in Imo State, Chief Ugochukwu Ndudiri, has condemned the emergence of Sir Alex Mbata as the All Progressives Congress, APC, candidate for the 2027 Owerri Zone Senatorial Election, describing the development as unjust, politically insensitive, and a clear violation of equity, fairness, and balanced representation in the zone.

Ndudiri, who hails from Ikeduru Local Government Area of Imo State, faulted the decision of the APC leadership to allow another candidate from Owerri North LGA to pick the Senate ticket immediately after the tenure of the incumbent lawmaker representing Owerri Zone, Senator Ezenwa Onyewuchi, who is currently completing two consecutive terms in office.

According to him, the decision amounts to political marginalisation of other local government areas within Owerri Zone, insisting that allowing another indigene of Owerri North LGA to occupy the senatorial seat immediately after Senator Onyewuchi’s eight years undermines the principles of political balance and equal opportunity which the people of the zone have continued to advocate for over the years.

The APP stalwart further recalled that respected leaders such as Senator Eze Ajoku served only one tenure, while many qualified and competent political figures from other parts of Owerri Zone are yet to be given the opportunity to represent the zone at the Red Chambers of the National Assembly.

Describing the APC arrangement as “a political joke taken too far”, Ndudiri alleged that the ruling party sacrificed justice, fairness and inclusiveness for selfish interests and personal political calculations.

He warned that such a development could generate anger, resentment and dissatisfaction among party faithful and the electorate across Owerri Zone ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The APP chieftain maintained that Owerri Zone is made up of several local government areas blessed with capable and credible individuals who deserve equal consideration in the distribution of political offices, stressing that concentrating the senatorial position within one local government area weakens unity, destroys mutual trust, and contradicts democratic principles.

Ndudiri also stated that contrary to repeated claims by the APC, there is nothing like a genuine Charter of Equity within the party in Imo State, alleging that the APC has consistently manipulated the concept to favour selected political interests.

He, however, commended the Action Peoples Party, APP, for standing firmly against what he described as injustice, inequality, and political oppression in the state.

According to him, the APP has already resolved to enthrone a real and practical Charter of Equity ahead of the 2027 elections, where fairness, inclusiveness, and equal political opportunities would be guaranteed for all sections of Imo State.

The APP chieftain therefore called on political stakeholders, traditional leaders, party faithful, youths, and well meaning citizens of Owerri Zone to reject every form of political injustice by the APC, while urging the people to support parties and leaders committed to transparency, fairness and true democratic representation.

2027: More hurdles for Gov Mutfwang as kinsman Gen Sura picks ADC guber form

The expected smooth sail for Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang’s re-election in 2027 has taken a hit as another of his kinsmen, Brigadier General, John Sunday Sura (rtd), has picked the Expression of Interest and Nomination forms to contest the Plateau State governorship election on the platform of the African Democratic Congress, ADC.

Sura who is from the same Mangu Local Government Area as Mutfwang, picked the ADC governorship form on Monday and was presented to the party hierarchy at the national headquarters in Abuja.

While speaking during the presentation, Sura expressed confidence in the electoral process and pledged to introduce fresh ideas aimed at restoring peace and fostering development in the state.

The retired Army General who recently resigned from the All Progressives Congress, APC, said his decision to join the governorship race was driven by an urgent need to address insecurity, promote economic prosperity and rebuild peaceful coexistence.

“I am driven by what matters now on the Plateau, which is the safety of lives and property, prosperity and the conviction to establish Plateau as a haven for mutually beneficial coexistence among the good people of Plateau State and beyond,” Sura said.

While expressing optimism that his political movement would usher in a new phase of collective progress, the retired Army chief turned politician said, “This will be the beginning of the best collective movement for the new Plateau State. My ambition is not centered on personal gains but on what matters now to the people of the state.”

Sura’s entry into the governorship fray is seen by political observers in the state as a litmus test for Mutfwang as they see it as whittling his political base as the votes would be split during the election.

Before Sura’s entry, two other prominent political figures in Mangu, Sunny Garba Biggs and Jude Eli Dakur had also resigned from the APC to pursue their governorship ambitions in other political parties.

While Biggs had since declared his ambition on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Dakur, a former strong ally of the governor, has pitched his tent with the ADC where he also declared his gubernatorial ambition.

Dakur, a former Commissioner of Education and Mineral Development, defected from the APC in April 2026 and has since launched his campaign which many believe is a big threat to Mutfwang’s second term as he (Dakur) is one of the most popular politicians from Mangu. It is believed that he will definitely split Muftwang’s votes in 2027.

Goje dismisses reported APC primary result

Senator Muhammadu Danjuma Goje has distanced himself from the outcome of the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial primary election for Gombe Central, saying the results being circulated are not authentic.

The lawmaker’s position was contained in a statement released on Monday by his Special Assistant, Ahmed Isa Kashere, shortly after reports emerged that retired Deputy Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Ahmadu, won the contest.

Unofficial figures attributed to the election’s returning officer, Dr. Habu Dahiru, indicated that Ahmadu scored 42,785 votes, while Goje polled 10,425 votes in the exercise conducted in Gombe State.

The reported outcome has generated political reactions within the APC, with many observers linking it to the growing rivalry among key party figures ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Despite the reports, Goje maintained that no official declaration had been made by the party’s national leadership.

In the statement, he urged residents of Gombe Central Senatorial District to ignore what he described as false and misleading election results.

The senator also argued that the APC leadership at the national level remains the only body empowered to officially announce the final outcome of the primary election.

Oyo 2027: It’s turn of Muslim to succeed Makinde – MURIC

Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has declared that it is the turn of a Muslim to succeed the incumbent governor of Oyo State, Engineer Seyi Makinde.

The association noted that this was necessary in order to ensure equity, fairness and justice among adherents of two major religions in the state.

MURIC made these declarations via a statement signed by its Executive Director, Professor Ishaq Akintola.

The statement was made available to DAILY POST, Tuesday morning.

Akintola said that Makinde, a Christian having spent eight years in office, it was now the turn of a Muslim to succeed him.

He said, “It is turn by turn. Seyi Makinde, a Christian governor, has spent eight years in office.

‎”We have a convention. If a Muslim spends eight years in office, a Christian should succeed him. It is so vice versa.

“Why does Makinde want to change that unwritten protocol? It is the turn of the Muslims. Makinde should not ignite a religious crisis in Oyo State”.

Kano Rice mill shut over dust emissions, offensive odour – NESREA

The National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency (NESREA) has sealed a rice milling facility in Kano State over alleged environmental violations, following complaints from residents over dust emissions and offensive odour linked to its operations.

The enforcement exercise took place on Monday, and was led by the NESREA Zonal Director, Abdulraheem Mudashir.Mudashir said the action followed several complaints from residents of the area who accused the factory of polluting their environment and disturbing their daily activities.

He explained that checks by the agency showed the facility was not complying with the National Environmental Regulations on Food, Beverages and Tobacco Sector (2009), particularly those covering permit conditions and pollution control standards.According to him, the company had already been issued three compliance and abatement notices, but failed to implement the required corrective measures.

He said the factory was found to be emitting excessive dust into the surrounding environment, while also generating a strong odour that affected nearby households.

Mudashir said: “The company failed to put in place adequate measures to control dust emissions from affecting surrounding communities, in line with Section 48 of the regulation.”He added that despite repeated warnings and notices, the management of the facility did not take the necessary steps to comply with environmental rules, which led to its sealing.“Any facility that refuses to comply with environmental standards will be shut down by NESREA,” he warned. The agency said the enforcement action is part of its ongoing efforts to ensure industrial operators comply with environmental laws and to protect public health across the country.

Wamakko emerges APC Senatorial candidate for Sokoto North

Former Governor of Sokoto State, Senator Aliyu Wamakko, has secured the All Progressives Congress, APC, senatorial ticket for Sokoto North ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Wamakko emerged unopposed through an affirmation process conducted by APC members from the eight local government areas of the senatorial district.

The development paves the way for the former governor to seek a fourth term in the Senate.

Speaking after his affirmation on Monday, Wamakko thanked party members for the confidence reposed in him and described the exercise as peaceful and successful.

He also commended APC members in Sokoto State for the orderly conduct of the primaries, saying the process reflected unity and internal cohesion within the party.

Wamakko urged political office seekers to view leadership as a platform for service rather than personal enrichment.

The APC national delegation leader, Hadi Ukhashatu, said the affirmation process was conducted in line with the party’s constitutional provisions allowing for elections, consensus, or affirmation of candidates.

EPL: Patrick Vieira names five current Arsenal players who can get into Invincibles team

Former Arsenal midfielder, Patrick Vieira, has revealed the five current Gunners stars he believes are good enough to make it in the starting XI of the club’s legendary Invincible team during the 2003/04 campaign.

Recall that the iconic team, managed by Arsene Wenger, famously became the first and only Premier League side to complete an entire season without a single defeat.

They won 26 matches, drew 12, and gained 90 points after the conclusion of the season as they won the league.

In an interview with Sky Sports, Vieira named Gabriel, Bukayo Saka, David Raya, Jurrien Timber, and Declan Rice as the players from today’s Arsenal team who would earn a spot in his old team.

“If I had to swap some Invincibles with current stars,” Vieira said, “I’d put David Raya in goal over Jens Lehmann.

“Jurrien Timber at right-back—I really like him. In central defense, I’d keep Sol Campbell but replace Kolo Toure with Gabriel.

“On the right wing, Bukayo Saka gets in ahead of Freddie Ljungberg. Up front, we are not touching Thierry Henry and Dennis Bergkamp. And I’d put Declan Rice in for Gilberto Silva and keep Robert Pires on the left.”

Sandra Accuses Ex-Husband Edoho Of Abuse, Infidelity

Media personality Frank Edoho has come under fresh allegations from his estranged wife, Sandra, who accused him of infidelity, emotional abuse, neglect, and intimidation in a lengthy social media post shared amid the ongoing controversy surrounding their failed marriage.

In the post, Sandra rejected claims portraying her as an unfaithful woman, writing, “I refuse to be tagged an unfaithful wife, a prostitute, or an ashewo as I have been pegged these past few days.”

She stated that she loved Frank deeply despite opposition from her family, saying, “He didn’t come as the most eligible bachelor, however, I loved him with all my heart & soul, against the wishes of my family.”

Sandra accused the media personality of repeatedly cheating during their marriage, alleging that she secretly gained access to his passwords and financial records.

“You didn’t know I had your passwords for over 3 months! Frolicking with so many women,” she wrote, while also alleging that she discovered hotel visits, payments to hook-up girls, and romantic outings with other women.

She further claimed that she endured humiliation and emotional trauma in silence for years, adding, “I was constantly humiliated, physically abused and traumatised.”

According to Sandra, she financially supported several aspects of their lifestyle, including paying off a Range Rover loan and investing in properties. She alleged that one of the properties she funded was later sold without her approval.

“The kitchen alone in that house cost me almost the amount you sold that house because you were desperate to do a dirty December,” she claimed.

Sandra also accused Frank of violating her privacy by allegedly recording and releasing private conversations publicly.

“You breached my privacy by audio recording me, you further dishonoured me by releasing those tapes to the public,” she wrote.

In another part of the post, she alleged that the former TV host once threatened her during an argument, claiming he said, “I will destroy your face so no man can ever see your beauty again.”

The estranged wife said she eventually decided to leave the marriage after allegedly fearing for her life.

“When you threatened to kill me at night, I knew this was my cue to leave and never look back,” she stated.

Sandra added that she remained silent for years because of their children and concern over public backlash.

“I feel so sad for even talking about a man I once loved. But I must as I have young children, who would one day be able to understand their mother’s side,” she wrote.
