Arsenal Clinch 14th Premier League Title After Man City’s Stumble

Arsenal have been crowned Premier League champions for the 14th time in their history after Manchester City were held to a dramatic 1–1 draw away at Bournemouth on Tuesday night.

The result at the Vitality Stadium confirmed the Gunners’ title triumph, with Mikel

Arteta’s side moving unassailably to 82 points with one match remaining in the season.

Manchester City, who needed a win to keep their slim hopes alive, remain on 78 points and can no longer catch Arsenal.

Bournemouth had looked set to seal a famous victory after taking the lead in first-half stoppage time through Junior Kroupi, whose composed finish sent the home fans into celebration and briefly tightened the title race narrative.

City, however, mounted late pressure in a bid to salvage their campaign. Their persistence eventually paid off deep into injury time when Erling Haaland struck to level the score, denying Bournemouth all three points but arriving too late to alter the destination of the title.

Despite the late equaliser, Bournemouth still made history of their own, securing European qualification for the first time ever following a remarkable season that has seen them punch above expectations and establish themselves among the league’s most improved sides.

For Arsenal, the outcome caps a season of consistency and resilience, as they maintained their advantage at the top of the table through a tightly contested title race.

With one game still to play, the Gunners can now celebrate a long-awaited return to domestic dominance, adding another league crown to their storied history.

Security operatives apprehend suspected fake bank transfer scammer in Edo

Operatives of the Edo State Security Corps (ESSC) have arrested a man identified as Joshua Oko for alleged involvement in a string of fake bank transfer scams.

DAILY POST reports that the suspect’s main targets were traders across parts of Benin City.

Oko was reported to have operated in the Ibiwe, Upper Mission Extension, and Ikpoba Hill areas of the Benin metropolis.

He was alleged to have visited shops, made purchases without negotiating prices, and presented falsified bank credit alerts before disappearing with the goods.

He was also alleged to have relied on a doctored banking application on his mobile phone to generate fake transfer notifications containing the sellers’ account details and the purported amounts paid.

The suspect, who allegedly visited a shop along Upper Mission Extension, was reported to have purchased two bags of rice valued at N150,000 using the same fraudulent method.

One of the victims, simply identified as Iyore, recounted how the suspect won her confidence before allegedly executing the scam.

Iyore, a trader, narrated that “the suspect appeared calm and convincing.”

She said the suspect requested bags of rice suitable for jollof rice preparation, adding that he would pay via bank transfer after the items were presented.

According to her, “He later showed me what appeared to be a successful transfer notification on his phone, but the funds never reflected in my account balance.”

She explained that when she complained about the non-receipt of the credit alert, the suspect blamed network delays and promptly left the shop with the goods.

Iyore further added that the same suspect allegedly carried out a similar operation at another shop around Ikpoba Hill, where goods were also obtained through fake payment alerts.

The Deputy Commander of Operations of the ESSC, Richard Balogun, who confirmed the incident, said the suspect was apprehended following coordinated intelligence efforts.

Balogun stated that Oko was arrested at a petrol station along Upper Mission Extension during a targeted operation by security personnel.

He added that the suspect has since been handed over to the Nigeria Police Force for further investigation and possible prosecution.

NPF Arrests Son , Accomplice Over Kidnap Of Father , Recovers AK-47 Rifle

The Nigeria Police Force has recorded another operational breakthrough with the arrest of two suspects involved in a case of criminal conspiracy, kidnapping, armed robbery, and unlawful possession of firearms linked to a violent syndicate operating within Kaduna State and adjoining communities.

The suspects in custody, Yusuf Rabo and Musa Adamu, were arrested following investigations into the abduction of Alhaji Rabo Jelani. Investigations revealed that Yusuf Rabo conspired with Musa Adamu and Ali Haruna, the victim’s grandson who is currently at large, to abduct the elderly victim for ransom over claims that he possessed substantial wealth and livestock.

Further investigations established that the syndicate procured and deployed multiple AK-47 rifles for their operations, with Ali Haruna allegedly supplying one of the firearms belonging to his father, while additional weapons were sourced by other members of the gang. One AK-47 rifle with an empty magazine was recovered during the operation.

Findings revealed that the victim was abducted on separate occasions and taken to forest locations where ransom negotiations were coordinated by Yusuf Rabo himself. The first abduction reportedly yielded a ransom payment of Two Million Naira (₦2,000,000), while a subsequent operation generated Four Million Five Hundred Thousand Naira (₦4,500,000).

The syndicate has also been linked to other violent crimes within the area, including the kidnapping of a trader identified as Mr. Iyke and an armed robbery attack along the Kagoma axis during which commuters were dispossessed of cash and valuables.

Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspect, Ali Haruna, and recover additional weapons and exhibits connected to the crimes.

The Nigeria Police Force remains resolute in dismantling kidnapping and armed robbery networks across the country and assures members of the public of sustained intelligence-led operations against violent criminal groups.
