A 45-year-old Nigerian man has been jailed in the UK for the repeated s£xual assault of a woman at Euston station which he claimes was consensual.
Obinwa Obichukwu, 45, attacked the victim twice on the evening of August 20, 2023, after grabbing her hand and proclaiming his “love”.
He first approached the lone woman as she walked towards the busy interchange and attempted to start a conversation about the music she was listening to.
Obichukwu then put his arm around the victim’s shoulder, asked her back to his house, and pursued her down Euston Road.
Obichukwu proceeded to s£xually assault her at the station entrance and again near the ticket barriers after following her down the escalator to the Tube.
The woman managed to push him off and get away, leaving Obichukwu at the station.
British Transport Police (BTP) officers later tracked him to his Hertfordshire home address and arrested him for s£xual assault.
Obichukwu, of Armstrong Close, was found guilty on two counts in January 2026 and sentenced to two years in prison at Inner London Crown Court on July 21, 2026.
He was also given a 10-year S£xual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) and will be on the s£x offenders register for a decade.
Detective Constable Daniel Burke said: “Obinwa Obichukwu is a s£xual predator who targeted a lone woman and attacked her at a busy London station. He claimed his assault was consensual and took his case to trial, but fortunately, the jury saw straight through his lies, and he’s now behind bars where he belongs.
“Tackling violence and intimidation against women and girls is a priority for us as a force, and we’re tireless in our efforts to bring offenders like Obichukwu to justice. If you experience or witness these crimes on the railway, please report it to us by texting 61016. We will always take action.”

President Bola Tinubu has given the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) a clean bill of health, accusing the opposition parties of crying wolf.
Speaking while receiving the leadership of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria (CBCN), led by its President, Most Rev. Matthew Ndagoso, at the State House, Abuja, on Tuesday, President Tinubu said
“The opportunities are equal. INEC is neutral. They have never intimidated anyone. If political opponents are crying wolf, maybe they are afraid of their own shadows and uncertainty in the companies they keep, not me.”
Ahead of the 2027 elections, the opposition parties have repeatedly accused INEC of undermining their activities to favour the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
While speaking to the Bishops, the President assured Nigerians that the ongoing restructuring of security operations and institutions will deliver victory over terrorism, band!try and k!dnappings across the country.
President Tinubu emphasised that Nigeria’s security architecture is being repositioned for greater efficiency.
He said the security challenges were being confronted through enhanced intelligence gathering, restructuring and repositioning of security institutions, improved logistical support, and prioritisation of frontline personnel welfare.

Cybersecurity is no longer a niche career reserved for IT professionals. From banks and fintech startups to hospitals, schools, government agencies, and e-commerce platforms, organisations are investing heavily in digital security as cyber threats become more sophisticated.

Troops of the Nigerian Army under Operation HADIN KAI have arrested two suspected collaborators of Boko Haram and the Islamic State West Africa Province, ISWAP, during an intelligence-led operation in Magumeri Local Government Area of Borno State.
The arrests were disclosed by counter-insurgency and security analyst Zagazola Makama in a post on X.
According to intelligence sources cited by Makama, troops of the 109 Special Forces Battalion, in collaboration with Hybrid Forces, carried out the operation at about 5:08 a.m. on July 28 following credible intelligence from the Hybrid Forces Headquarters in Maiduguri.
The operation led to the arrest of Modu Collu, 20, and Bashir Goni Tijani, 47, both residents of Magumeri town.
The sources said preliminary interrogation indicated that the suspects admitted to collaborating with Boko Haram/ISWAP fighters operating in the area.
Troops also recovered a Tecno mobile phone belonging to one of the suspects, Modu Collu, during the operation. The device has been taken into custody for further analysis.
Military sources said the suspects and the recovered exhibit are being processed and will be handed over to the Joint Intelligence Fusion Centre (JIFC) for further investigation and necessary action.
The arrests are part of ongoing intelligence-driven operations under Operation DESERT SANITY V aimed at dismantling terrorist support networks, disrupting logistics and denying insurgents access to local collaborators across the North-East.
Military authorities said the security situation across the theatre remains relatively calm but unpredictable, adding that troops have maintained a high level of morale and operational readiness.
