Israeli envoy displays Hezbollah drone at UN, warns of growing threat

Israel’s Ambassador to the United Nations, Danny Danon, has displayed what he said was a Hezbollah drone during a United Nations Security Council meeting, warning members of the international body about the growing threat posed by advanced unmanned aerial systems used by non-state armed groups.
Addressing the council, Danon said the drone exemplified the type of technology increasingly being deployed by Hezbollah and other armed groups in modern conflicts.

Holding up the device during his presentation, the Israeli envoy described it as a small, low-cost but highly effective weapon capable of evading traditional defence systems.

“This is an example of a drone used by Hezbollah, this is what we are dealing with,” Danon said.

According to him, Hezbollah has been deploying various types of drones, including some equipped with fibre-optic technology, making them difficult to detect and counter.

“These drones weigh less than two kilograms, they fly low and are very difficult to detect, by the time you hear one above your head, it is often too late,” he said.

Danon further claimed that the drones can travel considerable distances without detection and are resistant to conventional electronic warfare measures.

“It can fly undetected for tens of miles. It does not rely on a radio signal and cannot be easily jammed,” he said.

The ambassador noted that the technology provides operators with a live video feed and direct control throughout a mission, enabling precise targeting.

“It gives the operator a live video feed and direct control until impact. This is modern warfare, cheap, precise and deadly,” he added.

Danon also argued that the technology is increasingly accessible, stating that some of the components used in such systems can be acquired through commercial online platforms.

The presentation comes amid heightened tensions between Israel and Hezbollah, which have exchanged cross-border attacks in recent years.

In recent weeks, Hezbollah has released videos that it says show drone strikes targeting Israeli military vehicles and personnel operating near the Israel-Lebanon border. The group has frequently highlighted its growing drone capabilities as part of its military strategy.

The display at the Security Council underscored growing concerns among governments and security experts about the proliferation of relatively inexpensive drone technology and its impact on modern warfare.

Military analysts have warned that small unmanned aerial systems are increasingly changing the nature of armed conflict, allowing both state and non-state actors to conduct surveillance, intelligence gathering and precision attacks at relatively low cost.

The PPRO said a credible intelligence revealed that some blacksmiths were engaged in the illegal fabrication of dane guns and other firearms at Tasha Adua along Danchuwa Road, Potiskum, leading to the arrest of seven suspects.

“The suspects are currently undergoing thorough investigation with a view to identifying their collaborators, possible buyers, and the intended use of the fabricated firearms,” Abdulkarim said.

The Commissioner of Police, Usman Kanfani Jibrin, in the statement directed officers handling the case to intensify investigation, identify other illegal firearms fabrication centres in the area, and assess the level of security threat posed by such activities.

The Command also warned residents against allowing their premises to be used for unlawful activities, including the fabrication of dangerous weapons, and urged the public to report suspicious movements to the nearest police station or security agency.

Insecurity: We are in trouble, but DSS can do a lot if properly equipped – Ughegbe

Activist and public affairs analyst, Dr. Lemmy Ughegbe, has said the recent arrest of five suspected terrorists, including two foreign nationals, by the Department of State Services (DSS) demonstrates that Nigeria’s security agencies are capable of delivering significant results when adequately equipped and supported.
Ughegbe stated this during an interview on Wednesday on Arise News while discussing the country’s security challenges and the role of citizens in addressing them.

According to him, Nigeria must acknowledge the seriousness of its security situation, noting that even President Bola Tinubu has publicly expressed concern about insecurity.

“We are in trouble as a country; we must admit that,” Ughegbe said.

Despite the challenges, he argued that the DSS operation should inspire confidence in the country’s security institutions.

“This very remarkable feat by the DSS shows that the agency, when allowed to do its job, properly equipped and properly motivated, has the capacity, not just the potential, to generate credible and actionable intelligence,” he said.

Ughegbe said the operation demonstrated the ability of security agencies to infiltrate terrorist networks, intercept intelligence and disrupt the movement of weapons among criminal groups.

“Being able to capture these five terrorists, including two foreign nationals, speaks volumes to the fact that we can be hopeful, even though there is still a lot of work to be done,” he added.

He stressed that intelligence gathering depends heavily on cooperation from members of the public, urging Nigerians to report suspicious activities within their communities.

“DSS officials are not spirits, they will not get information unless citizens provide it. If you have people living within your community whom nobody knows, there should be a way of quietly passing information to the authorities,” he said.

Ughegbe also blamed part of the security challenge on public complacency, saying many residents pay little attention to unfamiliar individuals living around them.

“Many of us live in areas where we do not know our neighbours. Yet terrorists and criminals can live within those same communities,” he said.

The analyst further urged political leaders and opposition figures to avoid politicising security issues, arguing that national security should take precedence over partisan interests.

“If we are all concerned about the state of affairs in Nigeria, then we must put the country first, there cannot be elections without citizens being safe,” he said.

Drawing comparisons with responses to major security incidents in other countries, Ughegbe called for greater unity in tackling insecurity.

“We need to get to a stage where we drop politics and focus on securing our country. Before politics, our citizenship and our safety must come first,” he added.

2027: It Would Be Evil Of Deltans To Vote Against Tinubu..Governor Oborevwori

The governor of Delta state, Sheriff Oborevwori, says it will be evil for any resident of the state to vote against President Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election, According to him Tinubu is an in-law of the state and deserves its supports.

Speaking during an interview on Arise Television, the governor said Tinubu is the only likely presidential candidate with a direct connection to the statebecause his wife Oluremi, is an Itsekiri woman.

“Among the candidates that emerged, Bola Ahmed Tinubu is the only one that has an affiliation to Delta State. The man is an in-law here, and it would be evil to vote against your in-law. It’s a family affair. In the South-South, the people in Delta are saying this is their own. They were deceived before. Now they can’t.

The First Lady is holding the state strong, and no Itsekiri person will vote against Tinubu. No Urhobo man will because their son is the governor’’he said

  • UCL: Bunch of clowns, they’ve lost their legacy – Ex-France star, Dugarry slams Arsenal after PSG defeat

UCL: Bunch of clowns, they’ve lost their legacy – Ex-France star, Dugarry slams Arsenal after PSG defeat

Former French international, Christophe Dugarry has harshly criticized Arsenal following their defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Champions League final.

The North London team succumbed to PSG in a penalty shootout after a closely contested match that extended to the full duration. Kai Havertz initially put the Gunners ahead, but their lead was equalized in the second half when Ousmane Dembele converted a penalty awarded for a foul by Cristhian Mosquera.

Eberechi Eze and Gabriel Magalhaes both failed to convert their penalties during the shootout, contributing to PSG’s 4-3 aggregate victory and allowing them to retain their European title. The former France international has criticized the Gunners for the tactics they employed in the final against the Ligue 1 champions.

In an interview with RMC Sport’s Rothen S’enflamme, Dugarry condemned Mikel Arteta’s team for their approach, stating (via GOAL):

“We witnessed clearances, a team that consistently attempted to waste time. It was utterly unbearable, intolerable, and what was almost disastrous for football and its admirers is that they nearly created the illusion that by doing so little, one could win the Champions League.”

He further criticized Arteta for adopting a defensive strategy in the final, asserting that this was not reflective of the traditional style of the Gunners.

“They’re a group of clowns, arriving with inflated egos, with Arteta proclaiming, ‘We’re going to defeat them’… I’m delighted Arsenal received the short end of the stick, and I hope that if they ever aspire to win it, they will begin to play proper football.

“This isn’t Arsenal! This club has a rich history, they’re the Gunners, there’s a legacy, a style of play. They cannot perform like that, it’s simply impossible.”

Despite the backlash, Mikel Arteta’s squad has enjoyed a successful season.

They ended their 22-year Premier League drought and reached the UCL final for only the second time in the club’s history.
