In the midst of hardship, insecurity, and high cost of living rocking Nigerians, the Founder of the Solid Rock Kingdom Church, Apostle John Okoriko, has urged Christians to remain resolute and unshaken in faith.
Speaking during the monthly Interactive Service in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State capital on the theme ‘Do Yourself No Harm,’ the Cleric urged Nigerians not to consider suicide and other forms of self-destruction despite the prevailing economic condition in the country.
Okoriko regretted that many people today cannot face ugly situations, adding that if people don’t harm themselves, nothing else, including the hardship and other challenges, can harm them. He noted that force within is greater than any force outside.
” It is true that people are passing through a lot in the country, but if you have Christ in you, you can negotiate all challethe nges of life and escape from it without harming yourself. I encourage you to remain steadfast in high spirits as things will surely get better.
“The issue is that what you see most of the time, may not be the truth about the situation. So, do not harm yourself.” He said.
The cleric also knocked prophets or pastors who collect money from people for counselling, saying that such an attitude does not reflect the virtues of Christ.
“No true prophet or pastor will demand anything, ,be it money or other materials from victims, sick people, helpless people, dysfunctional people, or vulnerable people to pray or heal them. Have you seen anywhere in the bible where Jesus Christ, who is our model collected money from anyone to perform miracle? But some of us are selling holy water, olive oil of 1500 sold at N7,000 or more, this is not the standard that Christ set for us!” He said.

Mrs. Olufunmilayo Adelabu, mother of former Minister of Power, Bayo Adelabu, has recounted how she wept over the abduction of schoolchildren in Oriire Local Government Area, Oyo state, only for her own daughter and twin grandsons to be kidnapped the following day.
Mrs Adelabu made the revelation in a viral video posted by Oyo Affairs on Sunday following the safe rescue of her last daughter, Olaide Adegoke, and her twin grandsons.
The family was abducted by gunmen on Tuesday, June 3, 2026, in Ibadan.
They were rescued ‘unharmed’ on Saturday night by police operatives during an operation in which two suspected kidnappers were neutralised.
Speaking with visible relief and joy, the elderly woman expressed gratitude to God.
“Olaide, Peter’s mother, is my daughter, my last born. I am very happy, very happy. I give thanks to God for the mercy bestowed upon me,” she said.
“That I cried and saw helpers, and saw that my children were rescued unhurt; that my children came home in peace, and I can see all three of them. I thank all those involved in ensuring they were released.”
She also spoke about other victims still in captivity, especially the schoolchildren and teachers abducted in Oriire LGA days before her family’s ordeal.
“A day before my children’s incident, I wept bitterly when I saw those children on the phone, without knowing it would happen to me too the following day,” she said.
Mrs. Adelabu continued with prayers for the remaining hostages.
“May God release them from captivity. I prayed for them too, just as I prayed for my children over the past five days. The God who freed my children from bondage will free others too. None of them will die there. They will all come home safely,” she said.
She also prayed for the government and the country.
“God will help stop such occurrences in Nigeria. God will help the government and Nigeria.”
The rescue of the Adelabu family comes amid a recent wave of kidnapping incidents in the country.
The abduction in Oriire, involving over 40 schoolchildren and teachers, sparked widespread outrage and renewed concerns about insecurity in parts of the state, particularly in rural and semi-urban communities.

He, however, commended security agencies for their swift responses in several instances, leading to the rescue of victims and neutralisation

Barcelona attacking midfielder, Dani Olmo, has responded to reports linking him with a move to Arsenal this summer.
The 28-year-old was asked about the transfer links to the Premier League champions in a press conference with Spain as they prepare to face Peru in an international friendly on Tuesday.
The Spain international, however, dismissed all rumours by insisting that Barcelona fans should relax because he is not leaving Camp Nou.
Olmo said as quoted by The Sun, “No, Barca fans can rest easy. As far as I am concerned, there’s nothing to say.”
Olmo joined Barcelona from RB Leipzig in 2024 in a £51 million deal.
He helped the Blaugrana win successive LaLiga titles ahead of rivals Real Madrid.

The gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, for the 2027 general elections in Oyo State, Senator Sharafadeen Alli, has denied any links with the abduction of one of the sisters of the immediate past Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu and her twins.
Alli’s denial is contained in a statement issued on Sunday, in Ibadan.
Recall that the minister’s sister and her sons were kidnapped earlier last week, but were rescued Saturday night following the raid of a township apartment by the police after a tip off.
Rumours, however, surfaced in the early hours of Sunday, linking the abduction incident to the APC gubernatorial candidate.
But, Alli, in a statement made available to DAILY POST on Sunday, described the rumour as false and deceptive, lamenting it was an attempt to discredit him.
He urged members of the public to disregard the rumours totally and called on security agencies to unravel the circumstances that led to the abduction.
He also demanded an investigation into the source of the rumour.
Alli said “We categorically describe the publication as irresponsible, defamatory, politically motivated and completely devoid of credibility.
“We urge members of the public to disregard the publication in its entirety and avoid spreading falsehood capable of undermining ongoing security investigations or causing unnecessary political tension”.

The presidency has said it is wrong to compare the abduction incident of former Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu’s sister and her kids to that of the Oyo schoolchildren and teachers.
Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on Media and Publicity, Temitope Ajayi, said this in a post on his verified X handle on Sunday.
Ajayi said those who are comparing Adelabu’s sister and her twin sons’ situation to the Ogbomoso kids and their teachers are totally wrong.
The presidential spokesman noted that it is wrong to compare the urban gang of kidnappers who engage in copycat crime to make money and hide victims inside a flat within the community to a band of terrorists operating deep inside the bush.
“It’s totally wrong to compare these two abduction incidents. The two sets of criminals have different motivations and agendas.
“The Ogbomoso children and their teachers will be rescued. Government anf security agencies are not as selective as falsely claimed. The approach to the two incidents can’t be the same.
“We should be happy that the woman and her twins are safely home while we pray for quicker rescue of those still in the bush with their abductors,” he tweeted.
Recall that the ex-minister’s sister and her kids were rescued late Saturday by the Nigeria police from a kidnapper’s den.

OPERATION HADIN KAI EXECUTES UNPRECEDENTED INTELLIGENCE-LED RESCUE OPERATION, FREES 360 ABDUCTEES FROM JAS STRONGHOLD IN THE MANDARA MOUNTAINS
In one of the most significant hostage rescue operations conducted in the North East Theatre in recent times, troops of the Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), comprising Special Forces and troops of Sector 1, have successfully rescued 360 abductees from a heavily fortified Jama’atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda’awati wal-Jihad (JAS) enclave deep within the Mandara Mountains area of southern Borno State. The operation, which was the culmination of weeks of painstaking intelligence preparation, covert reconnaissance, and operational planning, resulted in the safe recovery of men, women, and children who had been held in captivity under harsh conditions after being abducted from several communities, particularly within the Ngoshe axis. The successful rescue underscores the growing operational reach, intelligence dominance, and tactical superiority of OPHK in denying terrorists freedom of action and protecting vulnerable populations across the theatre.
The operation was initiated following the receipt of credible and corroborated intelligence from multiple sources indicating the precise location of the hostages and the existence of an elaborate insurgent support network sustaining the enclave. OPHK intelligence elements subsequently launched an extensive target development process involving the integration of Human Intelligence (HUMINT), Signals Intelligence (SIGINT), and persistent Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) operations conducted through unmanned aerial systems and long-range reconnaissance patrols. Through sustained intelligence collection and analysis, commanders developed a comprehensive understanding of the terrain, insurgent disposition, defensive arrangements, movement patterns, and the condition of the abductees. This intelligence-driven approach enabled the force to accurately map the objective area, identify vulnerabilities within the terrorist network, and significantly reduce risks to the hostages during the rescue mission.
A decisive breakthrough was achieved through the successful penetration of the terrorist network by carefully cultivated intelligence assets operating under the supervision of OPHK military intelligence personnel. These assets provided timely and actionable intelligence regarding the exact locations of the abductees, the disposition of insurgent commanders, internal security measures, and planned relocation routes. Simultaneously, carefully coordinated information and psychological operations created uncertainty and mistrust within the insurgent ranks, degrading their cohesion and disrupting command and control arrangements. The resulting intelligence advantage provided OPHK with unprecedented situational awareness and enabled commanders to shape the operational environment well before the commencement of the assault phase.
Acting on confirmed intelligence, OPHK Special Forces and troops of Sector 1 launched a meticulously coordinated multi-axis operation designed to isolate the objective area, dominate key terrain, and prevent insurgent reinforcement or withdrawal. Supported by real-time ISR feeds, assault forces infiltrated the objective area under the cover of darkness while blocking forces established positions along likely escape routes. The operation achieved complete tactical surprise, overwhelming the terrorists before an organised response could be mounted. Faced with the speed, precision, and overwhelming combat power of the advancing troops, several insurgents abandoned their positions and fled into surrounding mountainous terrain, while others surrendered. The hostages were swiftly secured, medically screened, and evacuated from the objective area. Regrettably, two infants succumbed to exhaustion occasioned by the extremely challenging mountainous terrain and the hardships endured during their prolonged captivity. The remaining rescued abductees were successfully evacuated to safe locations for medical care and humanitarian support, marking a major operational success and a significant setback for the terrorist group.
The Military High Command has commended the courage, professionalism, and exceptional discipline displayed by all personnel involved in the operation. The Military High Command noted that the successful rescue of 360 abductees reflects the effectiveness of intelligence-led operations, the growing synergy among security stakeholders, and the unwavering resolve of the Armed Forces of Nigeria to protect innocent citizens and restore lasting peace to affected communities. The Military High Command further reassured the public that aggressive follow-on exploitation and clearance operations are ongoing to neutralise residual terrorist elements, dismantle remaining support networks, and prevent future abductions.
