APC Aspirant Buba withdraws from Reps primaries in Kaduna

Mahmud Sadis Buba, popularly known as Al-Ajabin Zazzau, has withdrawn from the race to represent Sabon Gari Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives under the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Buba announced his withdrawal in a letter addressed to the Kaduna State Chairman of the APC and also shared on his verified Facebook page on Saturday.

In the letter, he said the decision followed reconciliation efforts within the party and consultations with key stakeholders.

“Please accept this letter as formal notification that I am withdrawing from the race for Sabon Gari Federal Constituency, House of Representatives, effective immediately,” he wrote.

He described the decision as a difficult one, but said it was taken in the interest of unity and progress within the party.

According to him, backing a single candidate is necessary for the APC’s success in the upcoming elections.

“My withdrawal is not a sign of weakness, but a sacrifice for the greater good of the party,” he stated.

“I ask my supporters to remain calm, united, and to throw their full weight behind the party’s decision and whoever emerges as the party’s candidate,” he added.

Former Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Ndudi Elumelu, has emerged as the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, for the Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Declaring the result at the collation centre in Oshimili South Local Government Area, the Returning Officer for the constituency, Barr. Val Arenyeka, said Elumelu polled the highest number of votes to clinch the APC ticket.

Speaking to journalists shortly after his emergence, Elumelu expressed gratitude to God and party faithful for the confidence reposed in him, describing the victory as a collective mandate for the people of Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency.

He commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his leadership under the Renewed Hope Agenda, which he said has strengthened the APC across the country and ensured the peaceful conduct of the party’s congresses.

Elumelu also thanked Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, whose sterling execution of the MORE Agenda, he said, has repositioned the state and strengthened the party in Delta State.

According to him, “Let me earnestly register my profound appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his excellent leadership under the Renewed Hope Agenda, which, in repositioning our nation, has brought massive support to our great party, the APC, and led to the peaceful and successful conduct of our congresses across the nation.

“I sincerely thank our dear Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Francis Oborevwori, whose sterling execution of the MORE Agenda has repositioned our state and strengthened support for our party in Delta State.

“I also thank our leader, Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, as well as the National Working Committee, NWC, and the Delta State Working Committee for effectively steering the ship of our party at this critical time. My heartfelt appreciation also goes to members of the Ndudi Elumelu Campaign Council, particularly my Director General, Dr. Darlington Ijeh, for their commitment towards the success of this project.”

  • Massive turnout as APC holds House of Reps primaries in Akwa Ibom

Massive turnout as APC holds House of Reps primaries in Akwa Ibom

There was a massive turnout of All Progressives Congress, APC, faithful at the House of Representatives primary election in Akwa Ibom State.

A visit to some wards in the Uyo Federal Constituency showed party members, especially women, coming out en masse to elect their preferred aspirant, even though the party adopted the Option A4 voting system.

At St. Michael’s Primary School, Offot 1, Ward 6 Centre, over 5,615 members out of the 6,000 registered members, including government appointees, were on ground to vote for the consensus aspirant, Mark Esset, who is the incumbent House of Representatives member.

Speaking with journalists, the Secretary to the Akwa Ibom State Government, Dr. Enobong Uwah, who is the political leader of Uyo Local Government Area, commended the APC for adopting direct primaries, saying it has entrenched democracy and given members, especially women, the opportunity to support any aspirant of their choice.

He applauded party faithful for coming out en masse, especially the women, and for their peaceful conduct during the exercise, urging them to continue supporting the party and all candidates who would emerge to fly the party’s flag.

His words: “As you can see, this is a direct primary. Of course, in a direct primary, you choose to stand behind the aspirant you want to become the candidate of the party. I prefer this system to the one where a few delegates sit in one room or hotel and vote for one person.

“That is why after consensus, you still have to come out to the field to prove that everybody has agreed, and that is what you have seen here today.

“We know how primaries used to be before, but today’s event has shown how peaceful our state is. Despite the huge turnout, everything is orderly.”

Commenting on the primaries, Mr. Inibehe Emmanuel, Chairman of Ward 6, Uyo Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, said the exercise was very successful as everyone came out to support the party’s candidate.

“We have more than 6,000 registered members in Ward 6 of Uyo Federal Constituency, and today all of us have come out to vote for Mr. Mark Esset to return and represent us in the National Assembly,” he said.

Meanwhile, at the end of the exercise, Hon. Mark Esset polled a total of 5,615 votes out of the 6,000 registered voters, as announced by the returning officer, Mr. Jude Oliver.

Among those who participated in the primaries were Dr. Mrs. Inemesit Uwah, wife of the SSG; Sir Charles Udoh, Managing Director of Ibom Hotels; Mr. Ime Uwah, Sole Administrator of Ibom Paint Industry; Mr. David Sergeant, SSA on Entertainment; other special assistants to the governor; and party elders, among others.

  • Semenyo’s Audacious Flick Sees Manchester City Defeat Chelsea In FA Cup

Semenyo’s Audacious Flick Sees Manchester City Defeat Chelsea In FA Cup

It took an audacious flick from Antoine Semenyo in the 72nd minute for Manchester City to score against Chelsea and win the 2026 FA Cup final at Wembley Stadium on Saturday.

It was a game of few chances and low quality, but very chaotic, with no goals in the first half.

There was an early Chelsea penalty call, and Erling Haaland’s tap-in was correctly ruled out for offside in the first half as Chelsea sat deep to hit City on the counter.

After the break, Antoine Semenyo broke the deadlock with a brilliant flick from Erling Haaland’s low cross.

Late on, Robert Sanchez blocked Matheus Nunes’ cross onto the post before superbly tipping over Rayan Cherki’s shot.

Chelsea’s game plan had allowed them to stay in the game throughout, but it was risky.

Even though City’s dominance resulted in only one goal, it proved crucial despite late rallies from Chelsea.

It’s hard to make the argument that they carried enough of a goal threat to merit their first win against Manchester City since the 2021 Champions League final in Porto, with the way the team was set up.

Chelsea could be excused for the chaotic nature of the season, especially after having to sack and hire several coaches.

Yet, so often this season, they have been too slow and predictable in the final third despite the managerial changes.

In the end, consistency told in Manchester City’s victory.
