Kano Rift Deepens As Yusuf Warns Kwankwaso Over ‘Boy’ Remarks

The political feud between Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and his former mentor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso has escalated, following a stern warning issued by the governor over what he described as repeated disrespectful comments.

In a viral video circulating online, Yusuf cautioned Kwankwaso to desist from the remarks, warning that he could be compelled to respond more forcefully if the situation persists.

“Tell them they are talking too much, enough is enough. If they don’t stop, I will open my mouth and it will smell like hell,” the governor said.

Yusuf also questioned why Kwankwaso allegedly continues to refer to him as a “boy,” despite their age difference.

“I wonder why a 69-year-old person will continuously be calling a 63-year-old a boy. This is unacceptable,” he added.

The remarks are seen as a direct response to Kwankwaso, who has reportedly used the term in recent political exchanges, particularly following Yusuf’s alleged defection to the ruling All Progressives Congress.

Observers say the development signals a deepening rift and an intensifying power struggle between the two political figures ahead of the 2027 elections.

Until now, Yusuf had largely refrained from publicly criticising Kwankwaso and had urged his supporters to avoid inflammatory statements.

However, his latest comments are being viewed as a shift in tone, suggesting that tensions within Kano’s political space may further escalate in the coming months.

The feud has already sparked reactions across the state, with supporters of both camps engaging in heated exchanges over the future political direction of Kano.

Strait of Hormuz forever ours – Iran declares

Iran has declared ownership of the Strait of Hormuz, stating that it will forever remain in the possession and management of Tehran.

Chairman of the Iranian parliament’s national security commission, Ebrahim Azizi, made this declaration on Tuesday.

Azizi said the Strait was an all-round economic, political and military lever in comments reported by state news agency, ISNA.

Recall that at the start of the war, Iran blockaded the Strait of Hormuz, through which around 20 percent of the world’s oil and liquefied natural gas passes.

The US thereafter launched its own naval blockade in response.

Iran’s foreign ministry has insisted steps have been taken to restore the flow of ships in the strait, despite most vessels remaining stuck in the region.

Western countries, led by Britain, have been pushing to reopen the strait, with foreign secretary Yvette Cooper warning the world is sleepwalking into a global food crisis if it remains closed.

Oyo attacks: ‘Silence after presidential pardon isn’t bravery’ – TikToker Sea King to Sunday Igboho

Nigerian TikToker, Olumide Ogunsanwo, popularly known as Sea King, has called out Ibadan-based Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo, aka Sunday Igboho, over the recent attacks and abductions in Oyo State.

Sea King spoke in a video shared on his Instagram page on Tuesday while reacting to the mass abduction of teachers and students of the Community High School, Ahoro-Esinele in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, on Friday May 15, 2026.

DAILY POST reports that on May 17, 2026, the bandits beheaded one of the teachers identified as Michael Oyedokun and released the video to the public alongside a video of the school principal begging the government to settle amicably with the gunmen for their safety.

Reacting to the development, Sea King called out Igboho for keeping silent over the attack despite his promises to eradicate bandits in Yoruba land.

While describing Igboho’s alleged refusal to speak against insecurity as “politics”, the Tiktoker noted that “Silence after a presidential pardon isn’t bravery.”

Tagging the freedom fighter’s handle, he said, “Where’s Sunday_igboho1? Sunday Igboho has been paid. You said nobody should campaign in Yoruba land except Tinubu. You said you wanted to eradicate all the Fulani that are killing people from the land. Where are you now? Why are you silent? They have taken over Yoruba land .

“You vowed to ‘eradicate’ the bandits. You promised to lead 50,000 men. Now you’re back in Yorubaland, but the killings haven’t stopped. So where is the action? Silence after a presidential pardon isn’t bravery, it’s politics.”

This came three months after Igboho’s name was removed from the Federal Government’s wanted list by President Bola Tinubu.

DAILY POST recalls that Igboho recently returned to Nigeria after spending almost five years in exile following the invasion of his Ibadan residence by DSS operatives in July 2021 over his agitation for a Yoruba Nation during the administration of late former President Muhammadu Buhari.

  • Netanyahu Appears In Court For 88th Time On Corruption Charges

Netanyahu Appears In Court For 88th Time On Corruption Charges

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu appeared before the District Court in Tel Aviv on Tuesday for the 88th time since his corruption trial began in 2020, with judges approving a shortened session due to what Israeli media described as his “security and political schedule.”

Tuesday’s session focused on Case 2000, following the completion of his cross-examination in Cases 1000 and 4000.

Netanyahu faces charges of bribery, corruption and breach of trust across three separate cases, with indictments filed in November 2019.

Case 1000 centres on allegations that he and members of his family received expensive gifts from wealthy businessmen in exchange for favours.

Case 2000 involves an alleged arrangement with Arnon Mozes, publisher of the Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper, for favourable media coverage.

Case 4000, the most serious, accuses Netanyahu of granting regulatory decisions worth hundreds of millions of shekels to Shaul Elovitch, former owner of the Walla news website and a senior executive at telecommunications company Bezeq, in exchange for positive coverage.

Since the trial began, Netanyahu has consistently denied all wrongdoing, describing the proceedings as a political campaign aimed at overthrowing him.

Under Israeli law, a presidential pardon cannot be granted unless the defendant acknowledges guilt, a condition Netanyahu has refused to meet.

United States President Donald Trump has repeatedly pressured Israeli President Isaac Herzog to grant a pardon regardless, but Herzog has so far declined, stating that any decision will be made solely in accordance with Israeli law.

In addition to the domestic corruption trial, Netanyahu has been subject to an International Criminal Court arrest warrant since 2024 on charges of war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza, where more than 72,000 people have been killed since the outbreak of war in October 2023.

  • Ex-Police Chief Defeats Goje To Clinch Gombe Senate Ticket

Ex-Police Chief Defeats Goje To Clinch Gombe Senate Ticket

A retired Deputy Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Ahmed, has defeated veteran lawmaker, Senator Danjuma Goje, to clinch the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial ticket for Gombe Central, potentially bringing an end to Goje’s 16-year stint in the National Assembly.

Goje, who has represented the district in the Senate since 2011, lost the party’s primary election held on Monday across Akko and Yamaltu/Deba Local Government Areas of Gombe State.

Announcing the results, the returning officer for the exercise, Dr. Habu Dahiru, declared Ahmed winner after polling 42,785 votes against Goje’s 10,425 votes.

Ahmed’s emergence followed an earlier endorsement by APC stakeholders in the state, who had reportedly adopted the retired police officer as the consensus candidate for the senatorial district.

However, Goje rejected the consensus arrangement and insisted on the conduct of direct primaries to determine the party’s candidate.

The outcome marks a major political upset for the former governor and influential power broker in Gombe politics.

Goje, 74, served as Minister of State for Power between 1999 and 2003 before contesting and winning the Gombe State governorship election in 2003 on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Backed at the time by his political ally and former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, Goje defeated the late Governor Abubakar Hashidu of the defunct All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP).

He was re-elected governor in 2007 and subsequently moved to the Senate in 2011 after completing his second term in office.

Goje defected from the PDP to the APC in 2014 and retained his Senate seat in the 2015, 2019 and 2023 general elections.
Ahmed’s victory is expected to reshape the political landscape in Gombe Central ahead of the 2027 general elections.

  • Togo Removes Visa Requirements For All Africans

Togo Removes Visa Requirements For All Africans

Togo has announced the removal of visa requirements for nationals of all African countries, allowing them to enter the country and stay for up to 30 days if they have a valid passport.

The announcement was made on Tuesday in a statement issued by Togo’s Ministry of Security through its official X handle, describing the move as a historic step in strengthening African integration.

“Henceforth, all nationals of African states holding a valid national passport may enter Togolese territory without a visa, for a stay of up to 30 days.

“Through this major reform, the President of the Council reaffirms his commitment to making Togo a space of openness, mobility, opportunities, and cooperation at the heart of the African continent,” the statement read.

The exemption applies at all entry points including land borders, airports and sea ports.

The ministry clarified that the visa-free policy does not override existing laws on irregular entry or illegal stay, and that all standard immigration, security and public health requirements remain in force.

Travellers are however still required to complete a travel declaration on the Togolese government’s official platform at least 24 hours before arrival in order to obtain a travel slip to be presented at border posts.

The policy puts Togo among a handful of African nations that have moved to dismantle entry barriers for fellow Africans. There had been calls for deeper continental integration under the African Union’s free movement agenda.

The statement added that Togo seeks to become a regional hub for services, business, culture and human exchange at the heart of Africa.

Rwanda has implemented a similar visa-free policy in recent years. Nigeria responded by granting Rwandan nationals a 30-day visa exemption.

Previously, only citizens of the fifteen Economic Community of West African States member countries enjoyed visa-free access to Togo under the 1979 ECOWAS Protocol on Free Movement of Persons.

The new policy extends the openness to all 54 African nations.
