How I made Peter Obi greet Tinubu at Vatican – Former Ekiti Gov, Fayemi

Former Ekiti State Governor, Kayode Fayemi, has revealed how he made former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, to greet President Bola Tinubu at the Vatican during the inauguration of Pope Leo XIV.

Speaking on Thursday during an interview on State Affairs, a podcast hosted by Edmund Obilo, the ex-governor said he persuaded Obi to approach Tinubu for a handshake when they met at the inauguration.

According to him, Obi had initially hesitated to greet President Tinubu over what he described as the fear that the media could misinterpret their encounter.

DAILY POST recalls that the issue first became public on May 18, 2025, when the president’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, shared the photograph of Tinubu, Fayemi and Obi on X during the event.

Meanwhile, Obiasogu David, a prominent supporter of Peter Obi, has slammed Fayemi, alleging that he was trying to gain media attention using Peter Obi’s name.

NLO: Cynosure FC banned, fined for fielding professional players

Cynosure FC have been suspended by Nationwide League One, NLO, for the remainder of the 2026 season.

The club were also fined ₦500,000 for fielding professional players and submitting false registration information.

The NLO Disciplinary Committee found the club guilty of violating player eligibility and amateur status rules.

The duo are Nigeria National League players, Orngudwem Raphael of Solution FC and Ogbodo Valentine Chizoba of Osun Utd FC in several matches this season.

Chizoba had been declared absent without leave by Osun United.

Investigators said Cynosure submitted false declarations and misleading documents to register the players as amateurs.

The club also failed to observe the mandatory 30-day hiatus required before a professional can play in an amateur league under FIFA rules.

Cynosure chairman Nwaeze Chidiebere Prince admitted the information was genuine but claimed ignorance of the violations. The committee rejected the defence, saying the actions were deliberate and risked undermining the amateur league.

The sanctions include forfeiture of affected matches and a two-year probation period. The club has 72 hours to appeal the decision, which takes effect immediately.
