The OK Movement has announced the appointment of Muhammad Hamisu as its National Secretary ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The Movement made the announcement in a post on its verified X handle on Wednesday.

“The OK Movement is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Muhammad Hamisu as its National Secretary.

“A distinguished cybersecurity expert and prominent member of the Kwankwasiyya Movement, His dedication to grassroots development, inclusive governance, and national service makes him a valuable addition to the leadership of the OK Movement. Nigeria Will Be OK,” the post read.

DAILY POST reports that this is the third appointment the Movement has made in recent days.

Recall that the Movement appointed a former Chairman of the Inter-Party Advisory Council, IPAC, Peter Ameh, as its National Director-General.

A Kaduna-based agritech company, Al Zira’a Tech, has rolled out a fully organic fertiliser it says will protect Nigerian farmers from the price volatility of imported synthetic inputs while helping the country’s export crops meet international standards.

The company’s Managing Director, Farouk Dalhatu, in an interview with THE WHISTLER said the product, Greengrow, was built to solve two problems facing Nigerian farmers at once: the high cost of synthetic inputs and the rejection of Nigerian produce abroad over chemical residue.

“Nigerian farmers deserve an input that’s both affordable and genuinely good for their soil and their harvest,” Dalhatu said. “Greengrow was built to solve two problems at once.”

He said Greengrow’s local sourcing was central to keeping its price stable.

“Because Greengrow is sourced 100 percent from local raw materials, we’re not exposed to the naira’s swings against the dollar the way synthetic fertiliser importers and blenders are,” he said.

“When forex rates jump, imported urea and NPK prices jump with them, and it’s the smallholder farmer who absorbs that shock. Sourcing locally means we can keep prices more predictable and within reach for the average Nigerian farmer.”

Dalhatu also linked the product to a recurring problem for Nigerian exporters.

“A lot of our export crops have been rejected or flagged abroad because of chemical residue buildup, largely tied to heavy synthetic NPK and urea use,” he said.

“That’s a real threat to farmer livelihoods and to Nigeria’s reputation as an exporter.

Because Greengrow is 100 percent organic, it removes that risk entirely, giving farmers a product that improves soil health over time instead of degrading it, while keeping their produce clean and export-ready.”

He said what sets Greengrow apart from other products on the market is that it is fully organic rather than organic-labelled.

“Many products on the market blend organic materials with synthetic compounds. Greengrow doesn’t, it’s 100 percent organic, so there’s no chemical residue buildup in the soil or in the crop itself,” he said, adding that every raw material used is sourced within Nigeria.

“That’s what protects the price from forex volatility, something synthetic fertiliser producers who depend on imported feedstock can’t offer.”

“Put together, farmers get a product that’s cheaper to sustain, safer for long-term soil fertility, and produces crops that meet international export standards without the residue problem,” Dalhatu said.

The launch comes against the backdrop of a wide gap between Nigeria’s fertiliser needs and what farmers actually use. Consumption has hovered around 1.64 million metric tonnes in recent years, recovering from a dip to 1.3 million tonnes the year before, according to ChemAnalyst data.

Industry estimates cited by The Guardian Nigeria put real farmer demand at just 500,000 metric tonnes annually, well short of what the country could use if application rates matched African benchmarks.

Nigerian farmers currently apply about 24 kilogrammes of fertiliser per hectare, against an African target of 50 kilogrammes, according to Fmino.

That demand shortfall exists even though Nigeria’s installed production capacity is estimated at between 8 million and 16 million metric tonnes of assorted fertiliser annually, according to The Guardian Nigeria and Fmino, meaning the country produces far more than it currently consumes.

Dalhatu said affordability remains the biggest barrier between that capacity and the amount farmers actually apply to their fields, a gap he said Al Zira’a Tech is working to close with locally sourced alternatives.

She warned fraudsters to avoid approaching her for a romantic relationship.

“I will never romanticise the idea of being a partner of someone who defrauds people whether physically or online. It’s shocking everytime someone asked whether I’m into fraud boys. I don’t understand why I should carry my whole essence and give to someone who steals.

“A lot of ladies may be attracted to the huge amount of money those guys make, but not me. I love money too, but please, just stay far away from me,” she stated.

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has approved the appointment of General Officers Commanding (GOCs) to the newly established Nigerian Army Divisions, following the approval by His Excellency, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Grand Commander of the Federal Republic, President and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, for the establishment of four additional Divisions. The landmark development forms part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the Nigerian Army’s force structure, expand its operational footprint, enhance command and control as well as improve the Service’s capacity to effectively respond to Nigeria’s evolving security challenges.

The newly established Divisions will immediately commence operations, in the respective locations, on attainment of Initial Operational Capability (IOC) while deliberate measures are being implemented to progressively attain Full Operational Capability (FOC). This phased approach will ensure seamless operationalisation, operational continuity and rapid force projection across the country.

Consequently, the Nigerian Army has undertaken a comprehensive reorganisation of its Divisional Areas of Responsibility. Under the new structure, 1 Division Kaduna will be responsible for security in  Kaduna, Kano, Katsina and Jigawa States, while 2 Division Ibadan will cover Oyo, Osun, Ekiti and Ondo States. The  3 Division Jos will oversee Plateau, Bauchi and Gombe States.

The newly established 5 Division, with Headquarters in Makurdi, will assume responsibility for Benue, Nasarawa and Kogi States, while 6 Division Port Harcourt will cover Rivers, Akwa Ibom and Cross River States. The 7 Division Maiduguri  will be responsible for Borno and Yobe states while  8 Division Sokoto will retain responsibility for Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara States.

Furthermore, the newly established 9 Division, headquartered in Ilorin, will cover Kwara and Niger States, while the newly established 10 Division, headquartered in Jalingo, will be responsible for security in the boader areas of Taraba and Adamawa States. The 81 Division Lagos will continue to oversee Lagos and Ogun States, while 82 Division Enugu will retain responsibility for Enugu, Anambra, Abia, Ebonyi and Imo States. The newly established 83 Division, with Headquarters in Benin City, will cover Edo, Delta and Bayelsa States when activated later in the year.

To provide effective leadership for the new formations, the COAS has approved the appointment of seasoned senior officers as General Officers Commanding. Those appointed includes;  Major General Yakubu Yahaya  redeployed from Headquarters Joint Task Force (North Central), Operation SAVANNA SHIELD (OPSS), to Headquarters 9 Division, Ilorin, as the General Officer Commanding and Commander, Operation SAVANNA SHIELD. Major General Chinedu Ralph Nnebeife has been redeployed from Headquarters 2 Division/Sector 3 Joint Task Force (North West), Operation FANSAN YAMMA, to Headquarters 10 Division, Jalingo, as the General Officer Commanding. Similarly, Major General Moses Gara has been redeployed from Headquarters Joint Task Force Operation WHIRL STROKE (OPWS) to Headquarters 5 Division, Makurdi, where he assumes the dual appointment of General Officer Commanding and Commander, Joint Task Force Operation WHIRL STROKE. 

In the same vein, Major General Auwalu Mahmuda has been redeployed from the Army Headquarters Directorate of Inspection and Compliance to Headquarters 2 Division, Ibadan, as the General Officer Commanding. In order to strengthen the newly established divisions, three new brigades were equally activated. The newly established brigades have Brigadier General AO Odubiyi from Army Headquarters Operations Center assuming command of Headquarters 11 Brigade Gboko as Commander, Brigadier General AM Haruna posted from the Nigerian Army Armour School to Headquarters 29 Brigade Kainji as Commander. Additionally, Brigadier General RM Aminu redeployed from the National Defence College to Headquarters 10 Brigade Lafia as Commander.

The Chief of Army Staff congratulated the newly appointed commanders and charged them to provide visionary leadership, sustain operational momentum and uphold the highest standards of professionalism, discipline and mission effectiveness in the discharge of their responsibilities. He reaffirmed the Nigerian Army’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Nigeria, protecting the lives and property of all law-abiding citizens and supporting the attainment of enduring national peace and security.

Lieutenant General Shaibu also expressed profound appreciation to the President, Commander-in-Chief  Armed Forces of Nigeria , His Excellency, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for his steadfast support and strategic investment in expanding the Nigerian Army’s operational capabilities. He noted that the establishment of the additional Divisions represents a historic milestone in the transformation of the Nigerian Army and reflects the Federal Government’s commitment to strengthening national defence architecture.

The COAS emphasized that the new Divisions will significantly enhance command and control, improve operational coordination, strengthen border security, facilitate faster deployment of troops and resources and increase the Nigerian Army’s capacity to respond decisively to emerging and evolving security threats across the country. He expressed confidence that the expanded force structure will further bolster joint and multi-agency operations, reinforce national stability and contribute substantially to the restoration of lasting peace and security nationwide.

Afrobeats star, Davido, has been dragged on social media following his absence at the wedding ceremony of associate and billionaire music executive, Soso Soberekon.

DAILY POST reports that Soso Soberekon held his wedding last weekend in Warri, Delta State.

Davido was noticeably absent at the ceremony. He also did he share the couple or congratulate them on his social media pages.

Rather, the musician posted about his trip to Dubai with his crew members, as well as the upcoming governorship election in Osun State.

Reacting to the development, many Nigerians have continued to criticise Davido while few fans who defended him, claimed he might not be in the country or was busy with work.

Criticising Davido, comedian DeeOne said, “With all the things wey Soso Soberekon don do for David, na David supposed to arrange chairs for that wedding.

“Davido is a terrible human being off social media. You did not attend the wedding, and none of you crew or family members represent you at the wedding. You could not even tweet ‘happy married life Soso’.

“Davido is jealous of Soso Soberekon because Soso is richer than him. David don’t want anybody to be ahead of him. He wants you to do well but not more than him.”

Also, the SSA on Media to the Delta State Governor, Ossai Ovie Success, wrote on his Instagram page, “Davido is ungrateful to Soso. I’m disappointed in Davido and Chioma for not attending Soso’s wedding.

“The fact is, Soso Soberekon has done so much for Davido in the last few years.”

Davido faces backslash over absence at Soso Soberekon’s wedding

The Nigeria Medical Association, NMA, Akwa Ibom State chapter, has called for the creation of at least seven medical training institutions in the state.

NMA Chairman in the State, Professor Aniekan Peter stated this while briefing newsmen in Uyo on Tuesday.

He noted that the state is not meeting its employment quota for medical workers over the years, saying that something has to be done to urgently address the shortfall. 

“If there is vacancies for 100,000 teachers in the state, I’m sure you will find them immediately, but recently the State governor, Umo Eno approved employment for 400 doctors and we couldn’t get them.

“It means that there’s something wrong somewhere.

“We were looking for 700 nurses in the first time and we couldn’t get until we relaxed some of the criteria before we were able to get the number,” he stated. 

According to him, the time had come for the state government to refocus its priorities and see medical education as an empowerment.

While appreciating the governor for the approval of the Akwa Ibom State University to run a medical school, Peter said that it was not enough compared with other states of the federation like Delta that already had four training institutions.  

“We appreciate the governor for the approval granted to the Akwa Ibom State University to start doing medicine and other medical courses.

“But for Akwa Ibom State, that is one over four, it’s still a failure, just 25%.

“So we thank the governor for opening the first medical school in the state, other states like Delta already have four. 

“Medicine is no more a course, it’s an empowerment and any state or country that doesn’t recognize this will not get it right.

“If Akwa Ibom wants to be one of the States to be reckoned with,we must see medical education as an empowerment. We must have at least 7 medical schools in this state,”

the chairman added.

He said the State already had structures or facilities that could be converted to training institutions across the state.

Former Chief of Defense Staff, General Lucky Irabor, rtd, has highlighted the implications of the expansion of army divisions.

Speaking during an interview on Arise Television’s ‘Morning Show’ on Wednesday, Irabor stressed the need for proper scaling up of existing divisions in terms of personnel, equipment and logistics.

He also highlighted the importance of president Bola Tinubu’s awareness of the military’s shortcomings and the need for comprehensive improvements.

The ex-CDS applauded the president’s plan to recruit 28,000 personnel, acknowledging that it is a substantial addition to the military strength.

“Expansion of the Nigerian Army from eight divisions to twelve divisions is the right step in the right direction.

“However, there are a good number of things that need to be done. It’s quite heartwarming to know that the Commander-in-Chief himself is right well abreast of the shortcomings of the military.
“If he’s starting with the army, perhaps that’s a good step. I believe that the Navy and the Air Force will be part of the efforts. Now let me say that increasing from eight divisions to 12 divisions has a lot of implications.

“First, the existing eight divisions must be properly brought up to scale in terms of personnel, equipment, logistics, and so on and so forth. I believe that the details of all that might not necessarily be for public consumption, but I want to believe that the president is well aware of the implications of all that.

“But beyond that, I like to also commend the fact that the president has indicated that 28,000 soldiers will be recruited, which is barely a little over a division in terms of strength.

“But of course, it’s also good to start from somewhere, meaning that a lot has to go into accommodation for the troops,” he said.
