Tambuwal Condemns Bandit Attack On Sokoto Community

The Senator representing Sokoto East, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal has condemned the recent bandit attacks on Dangulbi community in Tureta Local Government Area of Sokoto State.

He described the violence as a direct assault on the peace, security and stability of communities in the state.

He said that the killings, destruction of property and displacement of residents were painful, tragic and unacceptable.

Lamenting the growing toll of insecurity on rural communities, the former Governor said he was deeply saddened and heartbroken by the attacks, which claimed innocent lives and brought untold hardship to affected families and the wider community.

“I extend my heartfelt condolences to the families of those who lost their loved ones, pray for the speedy recovery of those injured, and stand in solidarity with all residents affected by this tragedy”

He called on security agencies to intensify operations aimed at restoring peace in vulnerable communities across the Sokoto-Zamfara axis, stressing that residents deserve to live and carry out their daily activities without fear.

Tambuwal’s condemnation comes as residents continue to grapple with the aftermath of renewed attacks that have left scores dead, homes destroyed and many families displaced.

Dangulbi has witnessed repeated attacks in recent days, with armed bandits reportedly storming the community on motorcycles and opening fire on residents.

The latest assault occurred barely 48 hours after an earlier attack that reportedly claimed the lives of at least 17 people, including residents and visitors who had returned to the village for the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations.

Community sources said several houses were razed during the attacks, while many residents fled to neighbouring communities in search of safety.

The renewed violence has heightened concerns over the deteriorating security situation in parts of Sokoto State, particularly in rural communities that continue to experience recurring attacks by armed groups.

For residents of Dangulbi, however, the immediate concern remains their safety and the uncertainty surrounding a return to their homes.

Many displaced families say they are reluctant to return until stronger security measures are put in place to prevent further attacks.

Tambuwal urged residents to remain united and continue supporting efforts aimed at ending banditry and restoring lasting peace to affected communities.

He also reaffirmed his commitment to initiatives designed to improve security and protect lives and property across Sokoto State.

Vandalised TCN Towers Threaten Power Supply To Abuja, N/Central

Thousands of electricity consumers across parts of Abuja and North-Central Nigeria may face disruptions in power supply following the collapse of six transmission towers on the Apir–Lafia 330kV Transmission Lines I and II.

The affected towers, identified as T125 to T130, were reportedly vandalised before collapsing during a heavy downpour in the early hours of May 30.

This, according to the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), has left the critical transmission corridor out of service and raising concerns about electricity reliability in areas served by the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) and Jos Electricity Distribution Company (JEDC).

TCN in a statement issued Tuesday night by its General Manager, Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah, said both transmission lines remain unavailable pending the reconstruction of the damaged towers.

It added that the situation could affect power delivery to customers within the affected franchise areas.

According to the company, the incident occurred at about 1:15 a.m. when the two transmission lines tripped.

It stated that efforts to restore one of the lines through a trial reclosure failed, prompting engineers to conduct a physical inspection of the corridor.

The company explained that the inspection revealed extensive damage to critical tower components between towers T125 and T130, confirming that the infrastructure had been vandalised.

TCN said engineers had been deployed to the site to assess the extent of the damage and determine the materials needed for reconstruction and restoration of normal power transmission.

To cushion the impact on electricity consumers, the company said the Lafia 330kV Transmission Station is currently being supplied through the Lafia–Jos transmission line as a temporary arrangement.

“This is to minimise the impact of the outage on affected electricity customers within the franchise areas of Abuja Electricity Distribution Company and Jos Electricity Distribution Company,” the company stated.

The company, however, warned that the destruction of transmission infrastructure continues to pose a serious threat to the stability of power supply and undermines investments made in the nation’s electricity sector.

TCN condemned the vandalism and appealed to residents of host communities and the general public to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities around transmission facilities to security agencies or the nearest TCN office.

Manchester United are keen to sign David Alaba from Real Madrid this summer.

According to Tuttomercato, the Red Devils have approached Real Madrid to sign the veteran defender.

Alaba, 33, made just 47 appearances over the last three seasons.

Meanwhile, in another development, Bournemouth winger Eli Junior Kroupi has emerged as an option for Arsenal.

As per the BBC, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta admires Kroupi, who scored 13 goals in his debut Premier League season.

While Kroupi is reportedly valued at over £80 million by Bournemouth, Arsenal could make a move for him if they lose Leandro Trossard or Gabriel Martinelli this summer.

Pastor Adeboye never protested under Jonathan – Apostle Johnson Suleman

The Senior Pastor of Omega Fire Ministries, Apostle Johnson Suleman, has said the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, never protested under the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan.

Suleman clarified that Adeboye and other preachers were directed by the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, PFN, to embark on a prayer walk due to the hardship and insecurity issues during Jonathan’s administration.

He made the remark while berating those criticizing Adeboye for not protesting under President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

Suleman spoke in a video posted on X while addressing his members in Auchi, Edo State.

“There are some people attacking Daddy G.O. Pastor Adeboye, claiming that he protested under former President Jonathan but is not protesting under Tinubu.

“He did not protest then; it was the PFN that directed pastors and preachers to embark on a prayer walk. Do you expect a man of 84 years to come out and protest? I am a son of Adeboye, and if he is not speaking out, I am speaking out too.”

Why Pastor Adeboye will not protest against Tinubu – Mike Bamiloye

The founder of Mount Zion Faith Ministries, Evangelist Mike Bamiloye, has claimed that the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, cannot lead a protest against the government due to his age.

Bamiloye’s comments comes after Adeboye shared a clip on Tuesday, in which he urged the President Bola Tinubu administration to issue a 90-day ultimatum to service chiefs to eliminate terrorists or resign from office.

It comes amid allegations that Adeboye had called off a planned protest against insecurity.

Bamiloye, writing on his Instagram page, hit out at critics and bloggers for misrepresenting the cleric’s stance.

“This is what he said, many bloggers saw this, but they would project it. But he spoke against the evils,” Bamiloye wrote.

“And for all those who are expecting an 84-year-old man, servant of God, to lead a protest against a government, this does not make sense by virtue of his age and by the mandate of his calling.”

2027: North will vote Tinubu to boost 2031 chances – Ex-ACF scribe, Anthony Sani

Former Secretary General of the Arewa Consultative Forum, ACF, Anthony Sani, on Wednesday said the North would vote for President Bola Tinubu in 2027.

Speaking with DAILY POST, Sani said the North would back Tinubu’s second term bid to boost its chances of returning to power in 2031.

He said: “President Bola Tinubu will get the majority votes in the North because the North is hoping to produce the President in 2031 after it has been in the South for eight years.”

The former ACF scribe also said the South-East would vote for the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, presidential candidate, Peter Obi, due to what he described as the politics of zoning.

He said: “Politics of identity called zoning would not allow Igbos to vote against Peter Obi in 2027.This is because this time the President is in the South and is expected to be in the North by 2031.”

Sani further noted that the North would not back Obi’s presidential ambition because the region does not trust him to do just one term.

He added: “As to Peter Obi, the North cannot trust Peter Obi’s pledge to do only one tenure. What is more, the North believes a President Peter Obi will play Gorbachev who presides over the collapse of Soviet Union, since he has not condemned IPOB and Nnamdi Kanu.”
