EPL: They didn’t turn up – Troy Deeney calls out six Arsenal players

Following Arsenal’s Premier League 2-1 defeat to Manchester City on Sunday, Watford icon Troy Deeney didn’t hold back, calling out six of the Gunners’ players for failing to turn up at the Etihad Stadium.

Pep Guardiola’s side secured the win thanks to goals from Ryan Cherki and Erling Haaland.

However, Kai Havertz’s strike proved to be a mere consolation for the Premier League North London club.

Appearing on CBS Sports, Deeney said: “Everyone talks about how good City are, but let’s be real—Noni Madueke didn’t turn up, Martin Zubimendi didn’t turn up, Martin Odegaard didn’t turn up, Cristhian Mosquera didn’t turn up, Piero Hincapie didn’t turn up.

“And arguably, he’s a friend of mine. Declan Rice didn’t turn up.”

  • Court remands Malami-backed ADC chairman in Kebbi over alleged contempt

Court remands Malami-backed ADC chairman in Kebbi over alleged contempt

A Magistrate Court in Birnin Kebbi has ordered the detention of a factional chairman of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, in Kebbi State, Sufyanu Bala, over alleged contempt of court, deepening the leadership crisis within the party.

Presiding Magistrate Abubakar Koko directed that Bala be remanded in custody pending the hearing of his bail application scheduled for April 21, 2026.

The suit, filed by a rival faction, is also seeking an order restraining Bala from parading himself as the ADC state chairman.

Counsel to the complainant, Garba Shehu, representing factional chairman Abdulrazaq Iko, told the court the application was aimed at enforcing compliance with an earlier court directive.

“Our application is rooted in the need to uphold the authority of the court. The defendant has continued to act in defiance of subsisting orders,” Shehu said.

However, defence counsel Ahmad Fingilla challenged the competence of the case, arguing that the Magistrate Court lacked jurisdiction as the matter was already before a High Court.

“This honourable court cannot assume jurisdiction over a matter already before the High Court.

The alleged contempt did not originate here, and as such, these proceedings are fundamentally flawed,” Fingilla submitted.

Despite the objection, the court ruled that the matter would proceed and adjourned the case for further hearing.

Reacting, Bala alleged that the rival faction was working with the state government to destabilise the party’s structure in Kebbi.

“Yes, the magistrate ordered my arrest and detention, but the case has been adjourned till tomorrow. The court lacks jurisdiction, and the state government is behind this.

They don’t want us on the ballot, but we will pursue the matter to a logical conclusion,” he said.

The crisis within the ADC in Kebbi has persisted for months, with parallel factions laying claim to the party’s leadership.

Bala is believed to have the backing of Abubakar Malami, a development that has further intensified the dispute.

The prolonged tussle has resulted in parallel congresses, conflicting court orders and deep divisions among members, raising concerns about the party’s cohesion ahead of future elections.

I’m done – Peter Okoye dumps shared birth date with twin Paul Okoye, picks new date

Peter Okoye, the Nigerian singer and songwriter popularly known as Mr P, has officially announced a change to his birthday celebration date.

This is an action which is now seen as a deep break from his twin brother, Paul Okoye.

In a post shared via his X account on Monday, the artist declared that November 18 will no longer be recognized as his birthday.

“I’m making it official. November 18th is no longer my birthday celebration date. Please note that I will not be accepting any messages or gifts on that day,” he wrote.

He added, “My birthday will now be celebrated on November 30th. This is a personal decision, and I truly appreciate your understanding.”

The announcement comes amid a lingering and increasingly public feud involving his twin brother Paul and their elder brother and former manager, Jude Okoye.

Members of the once known as P-Square, Peter and Paul went their separate ways following intense disputes over management, finances, and allegations of betrayal.

Despite their much-publicized reunion in 2021, problems resurfaced, with Peter accusing Paul and Jude of marginalization and financial misconduct, while Paul countered by alleging that Peter reported them to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The long-running tension escalated in June 2025 when Peter declared he had completely severed ties with his family particularly his brothers.
