Ilebaye’s Father Speaks On Viral Family Clash

Father of former Big Brother Naija All Stars winner, Ilebaye Odiniya, Emmanuel Odiniya, has spoken publicly following the viral family altercation involving his daughter, claiming he was provoked before allegedly assaulting her during a confrontation.

In a voice note purportedly from Odiniya and shared on Facebook by Kogi-based journalist Jeremiah Promise Enemona Ocheme, the father said the incident was not motivated by hatred but by frustration over what he described as Ilebaye’s changed behaviour after winning the reality TV show.

“I want to put the records straight that what led to that incident was not that I don’t love my daughter. She is one of my best children,” he said.

Emmanuel claimed he made significant sacrifices and mobilised support for his daughter during her time on the Big Brother Naija All Stars show.

“During her time in the Big Brother Naija house, I contributed a lot. I stood by my daughter and made sure people voted for her massively. I used my influence and connections, including governors and other people, to support her until she won,” he stated.

According to him, their relationship allegedly worsened after her victory, as he accused the reality star of becoming disrespectful and physically aggressive.

“After she came out and won, she changed. Ilebaye stopped listening to me. I would book her appointments five to six times in a week and she wouldn’t give me audience. She stopped regarding me as her father,” he alleged.

The father also criticised her lifestyle choices, particularly her alleged cosmetic procedures.

“I warned her against getting cosmetic surgery face reconstruction with fillers and BBL. She’s too young for that,” he said.

Emmanuel further alleged that his daughter had physically attacked him on previous occasions.

“She has hit me twice, and I didn’t do anything to her. One day she took an AC hanger and hit me with it till blood started gushing out of my body,” he claimed.

Speaking on the recent altercation, he alleged that Ilebaye assaulted him first before the incident escalated.

“In this recent incident, she insulted me, hit me first with a sea hanger, causing bleeding, pushed me, and then broke an electric lantern on my head,” he said.

He also accused his daughter of neglecting him financially despite his health struggles.

“I am very sick and needed to go for medical treatment in Dubai. I called Ilebaye to help me with some money and promised to refund her. She said she didn’t have money. But I saw her video spraying bundles of naira at a colleague’s wedding,” he alleged.

The father further accused Ilebaye of negatively influencing her younger brother and interfering in his marriage.

“She has also influenced her younger brother with drugs, and he was expelled from school because of it. She once advised me to divorce her mother,” he added.

Despite the allegations, Emmanuel maintained that he still loves his daughter and hopes for reconciliation.

“I still love my daughter deeply. I want her to change and do better. I ask for prayers from Nigerians. The police have already intervened and settled the matter,” he said.

Ilebaye, alongside members of her family, including her father and younger brothers, were hospitalised following the confrontation at their Abuja residence.

The incident gained public attention after the reality TV star shared an emotional livestream video, crying for help and sparking widespread concern among fans.

Confirming the development, spokesperson for the Federal Capital Territory Police Command, Josephine Adeh, said all parties involved sustained injuries and were receiving medical care.

“The man is in the hospital; he is sick. All of them were badly injured and are all in the hospital,” Adeh stated.

She added that the siblings were under police protective custody while investigations into the incident continued.

  • Delta flight to Lagos turns back to Atlanta mid-air over operational issue

Delta flight to Lagos turns back to Atlanta mid-air over operational issue

A Delta Air Lines long-haul service operating from the United States to Nigeria was forced to turn back mid-journey after spending several hours in the air, following what the airline described as an operational issue.

Flight DL54, which was scheduled to operate from Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport to Lagos, departed Atlanta at about 5:42 p.m. EDT on May 9 aboard an Airbus A330-200 (registration N854W).

According to flight tracking data, the aircraft climbed to a cruising altitude of approximately 33,000 feet and maintained a normal eastbound route for roughly three and a half hours before the crew made the decision to reverse course.

The aircraft, which had already crossed a significant portion of the Atlantic, turned back toward its departure point after what the airline described as an unspecified operational issue.

Delta did not provide further details on the technical or logistical challenge that prompted the diversion.

Aviation tracking reports indicated that instead of diverting to an alternate airport in Europe or the Azores, the crew opted to return directly to Atlanta, suggesting the issue required attention at the airline’s main base.

The aircraft landed back in Atlanta in the early hours of Sunday, after which the airline cancelled the service for inspection and further technical checks.

The affected aircraft remained grounded in Atlanta for maintenance review following the incident.

The disruption subsequently affected the return leg of the route, as the Lagos–Atlanta service scheduled for Monday morning, operated as Flight DL55, was also cancelled. The departure from Lagos was initially set for 11:45 a.m.

As of the time of filing this report, passengers had not been given a clear update on when the next available flight to Atlanta would be rescheduled.

Delta Air Lines confirmed the disruption, stating only that the decision to return was due to an “operational issue,” without elaborating further.

  • Court Dismisses Fubara Dagogo’s Suit Challenging APC Congress

Court Dismisses Fubara Dagogo’s Suit Challenging APC Congress

The Federal High Court in Abuja on Monday dismissed a suit instituted by Mr Fubara Dagogo, a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), seeking to void the party’s recently conducted national congress.

Justice Joyce Abdulmalik, in a judgment, held that the court lacked the jurisdiction to entertain the case, which bordered on the internal affairs of a political party.

Justice Abdulmalik held that issues surrounding candidates’ nomination and purchase of nomination form, including expression of interest form, are non-justiciable.

The judge, who struck out the suit, awarded a N10 million fine each against Dagogo and his lawyer, making a total of N20 million, in favour of all the four defendants.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Dagogo, an aspirant in the recently concluded APC national congress, had filed the suit to challenge his alleged exclusion from the party’s national convention election.

The plaintiff, through his lawyer, Ogochukwu Onyema, named APC and Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, party’s National Chairman, as 1st and 2nd defendants.

Dagogo also listed Victor Giadom, party’s National Vice Chairman, South South, and Sulaiman Muitamma, APC’s National Organising Secretary, as 3rd and 4th defendants respectively.

In the originating summons, marked: FHC/ABJ/CS/591/2026 dated March 22 and filed March 23 by his lawyer, Dagogo sought six reliefs.

The aggrieved aspirant prayed the court to nullify the outcome of any party’s national congress for the position of National Vice Chairman, South South, without his physical participation.

He urged the judge to determine whether there could be a legitimate zonal congress for South South APC with his alleged unlawful exclusion after he was duly cleared and paid for his expression of interest (EoI) and nomination forms.

He prayed the court to declare that by virtue of APC’s Payment Acknowledgment Receipt No. 26827 dated March 13 and issued to him, he is entitled to be issued with the requisite EoI and Nomination Forms as an aspirant for the position of National Vice Chairman, South —South Nigeria.

He equally prayed the court to award a general damages of N100 million against the 3rd and 4th defendants for the discomfitures, embarrassments and mental torture, they occasioned to him with their ill conduct.

But the APC, in its earlier preliminary objection filed by the former lawyer, Kayode Okunade, urged the court to strike out or dismiss the suit for want of jurisdiction.

Okunade also prayed the court for an order striking out the originating summons filed by Dagogo as incompetent.

The lawyer, in his eight-ground argument, said the subject matter of the suit bordered on the internal affairs of a political party, which was non-justiciable and outside the jurisdiction of the court.

He said Dagogo’s complaint, relating to non-issuance of nomination form despite payment, concerned the conduct of party’s congresses and pre-primary processes, which were within the exclusive domestic jurisdiction of the party.

Okunade argued that the applicant lacked the locus standi to institute the action, having not been duly recognised as a valid aspirant under the APC Constitution and Guidelines.

He said the suit was premature, the applicant having failed to exhaust the internal dispute resolution mechanisms provided under the party’s constitution.

The lawyer, who said the suit constituted an abuse of court process, aimed at inviting the court to interfere in the discretionary powers of a political party, argued that Dagogo had not disclosed any reasonable cause of action against the respondents.

  • 2027: Labour Party chieftain, Ezeh dismisses alleged zoning crisis within LP

2027: Labour Party chieftain, Ezeh dismisses alleged zoning crisis within LP

A former National Assembly candidate of the Labour Party, LP, Dr Emmanuel Ezeh, has dismissed speculations of a zoning crisis within the Labour Party in Ebonyi, describing such narratives as politically motivated attempts aimed at importing “old political traditions” into what he termed a progressive political movement.

He noted that zoning arrangements have done little to deepen democratic governance in the country, adding that Nigerians are increasingly demanding issue-based politics and credible leadership capable of delivering democratic dividends.

Eze maintained that the Labour Party was founded on principles of inclusiveness, accountability and merit, warning that attempts to reduce internal political conversations to zoning debates are distractions capable of weakening the ideological foundation of the party,

He made the observations while speaking with journalists in Abakaliki amid increasing political realignments and discussions surrounding the 2027 electoral cycle.

Eze further hinted at a possible political ambition ahead of the 2027 general elections, saying consultations with stakeholders and supporters across different political blocs are ongoing.

The Labour Party stalwart, however, maintained that any decision regarding his future political participation would be guided by principle, ideology and national interest rather than personal ambition.

“I am still studying the political terrain. My decisions are guided by principle, not ambition,” he stated.

Ezeh reaffirmed his commitment to the Labour Party, stressing that his continued membership of the party is anchored on its ideology of equal opportunity, social justice, integrity and competent leadership.

According to him, the party remains a platform for progressive politics and accountable governance, insisting that leadership positions should be determined by merit, competence and vision rather than sectional or ethnic considerations.

The former aspirant noted that the growing interest and calls from supporters across various interest groups reflects the desire of many Nigerians, particularly youths, for a new political culture rooted in transparency, equity and responsible leadership.

He reiterated his commitment to democratic values, good governance and people-oriented policies aimed at improving the welfare of citizens irrespective of political affiliation.
