Kwankwaso sues Primate Ayodele over alleged defamation

The Nigerian Democratic Congress, NDC, Vice Presidential candidate, Rabi’u Kwankwaso, has dragged the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church Cleric, Primate Elijah Ayodele, over defamatory remarks.

In a letter shared on X by his legal team, Magaji Mato Ibrahim, SAN & Co., the former Kano State governor demanded an immediate retraction and apology from the cleric over the allegations.

The letter stated that the development follows a viral video recorded during a live-streamed church service, where the preacher made allegations targeting Kwankwaso’s integrity as Peter Obi’s running mate under the NDC.

DAILY POST recalls that Primate Ayodele had warned Obi that his running mate, Rabiu Kwankwaso, would negatively affect his presidential ambition.

The legal team quoted the cleric as stating: “Kwankwaso is a fake to Obi, Kwankwaso will betray you. Kwankwaso has been paid to be Vice President to Obi, among other libellous comments, while pretending to be a preacher.”

Makarfi Hospital: Governor Uba Sani has reversed decades of neglect — District Head

The District Head of Makarfi, Alhaji Adamu Abdullahi, has said that Governor Uba Sani’s reconstruction and modernization of the General Hospital in Makarfi has reversed decades of neglect and transformed healthcare delivery in the community.

He noted that the intervention has significantly improved access to quality medical services, restored confidence in public healthcare, and renewed hope among residents of Makarfi and surrounding communities.

Alhaji Adamu made the remarks while addressing journalists during a statewide media tour of projects executed by the Governor Uba Sani administration in Zone One of Kaduna State.

The media tour was led by the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Malam Ahmed Maiyaki, and the Commissioner for Health, Hajiya Umma K. Ahmad, as part of efforts to showcase the impact of ongoing development projects and engage directly with beneficiary communities.

Speaking on behalf of the people of Makarfi, the District Head disclosed that the hospital, which was established in the early 1970s, had neither undergone any major reconstruction nor received modern medical equipment for over four decades until the coming of the present administration.

He described the transformation of the facility as a landmark intervention that has addressed longstanding healthcare challenges and improved the quality of life of residents.

“For many years, our people struggled with inadequate healthcare services and had to travel long distances to access quality medical treatment. Today, that reality has changed,” he said.

According to him, Governor Uba Sani fulfilled a promise made to the people of Makarfi by reconstructing and equipping the hospital with modern facilities.

“The reconstruction and equipping of this hospital have brought relief, restored confidence in public healthcare, and renewed hope for our people. We are grateful that the Governor has fulfilled his promise to the community,” Alhaji Adamu stated.

The traditional leader added that the upgraded hospital serves not only residents of Makarfi but also people from neighboring communities who rely on the facility for healthcare services.

For many residents, the impact of the project is already evident. A patient at the hospital, Malama Sadiya Rabiu, said the upgraded facility has reduced both the hardship and financial burden associated with seeking treatment outside the local government area.

“Today, we can access quality healthcare services close to home. This has brought great relief to families, and we are grateful to Governor Uba Sani for fulfilling his promise,” she said.

A resident of the community, Abdullahi Musa, noted that the project has strengthened public trust in government, describing the reconstructed hospital as evidence of the administration’s commitment to improving the welfare of ordinary citizens.

It will be recalled that Makarfi General Hospital is among the sixteen general hospitals currently undergoing reconstruction and modernization under Governor Uba Sani’s healthcare transformation programme.

The Commissioner for Health, Hajiya Umma K. Ahmad, explained that the project reflects Governor Uba Sani’s commitment to strengthening   infrastructure and expanding access to quality and affordable healthcare across Kaduna State.

She reiterated that the administration considers healthcare a fundamental right and has continued to invest heavily in the rehabilitation, upgrading, and equipping of health facilities, particularly in underserved communities.

  • Nigerian Platform Promises to Make You Famous in a Day — Here’s How It Works

Nigerian Platform Promises to Make You Famous in a Day — Here’s How It Works

SABI has launched a service backed by over 300,000 real Nigerians that helps artists, creators and businesses grow on social media almost instantly.
Imagine waking up tomorrow with 300,000 people watching your TikTok video, using your sound, or following your page, not bots, not fake accounts, but real Nigerians who genuinely carried out those actions.

That is the core promise of SABI, a new Nigerian platform that its founder says has created something the internet has never seen before.

SABI was built by Olusehinde Elijah Kolawole, a Nigerian marketer who has spent over fifteen years helping brands and public figures grow on social media.

After more than a decade in the industry, he says he noticed the same problem repeating itself across every client he worked with: musicians needed listeners, creators needed audiences, businesses needed attention, and nothing organised that supply in a reliable, scalable way.
His solution was to build what he calls a Social Infrastructure, a standing network of over 300,000 Nigerians who have willingly signed up to perform digital actions on platforms like Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Facebook, Spotify and more.

The difference between SABI and what many might associate with social media growth services is significant.
Older methods relied on bots, automated programs that mimicked human activity.
Platforms like Instagram and TikTok have become highly effective at detecting and removing these fake accounts, meaning most growth purchased through such services eventually evaporates. SABI’s participants are real people with real phones, real accounts and real usage histories.

There is nothing for a platform to detect.
For a Nigerian musician, for example, SABI can coordinate hundreds of thousands of real listeners to stream a new song on Spotify or Audiomack, save it to their libraries, and even adopt it as a TikTok sound, one of the most powerful signals that pushes a song toward trending.

For a new business, SABI can deliver genuine five-star Google reviews, real app installs, and authentic social media engagement from day one.
The platform covers an extensive list of services across Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, X, Facebook, Spotify, Apple Music, Audiomack, Boomplay, Twitch, Telegram, WhatsApp Channels, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Reddit and Snapchat.

It also supports voting in online contests, ratings, petition signatures and hashtag campaigns.
Kolawole says the speed of impact is one of SABI’s most important qualities.
Because the network already exists and is standing by, orders can be executed almost immediately, collapsing timelines that would otherwise take months or years.
“What used to take years can happen in a day,” the platform’s promotional material states.

Kano govt seals film house, says it illegally sits in residential area

The Kano State Government has sealed off a film house located at Dorayi, Unguwa Bello area, over alleged violation of planning regulations and illegal siting in a residential neighbourhood.
The action was carried out under the “Operation Show Your Document” exercise led by the Director General of the Kano Geographic Information System (KANGIS), Dalhatu Aliyu Sani, who also chairs the committee on illegal structures.

Speaking during the operation on Wednesday, Sani said the decision followed complaints from residents and religious leaders in the area.

“We received complaints from the community and some Islamic scholars about this centre,” he said.

He explained that preliminary findings showed that the facility did not meet basic legal requirements.

“So many things are wrong, and in this place we cannot see whether they even have the required documents.

Sani further noted that even if the owners present documents later, the structure would still be considered illegal because of its location.

“This is 99% residential area. A film house in such a place violates planning regulations and zoning laws,” he said.

According to him, the government is also concerned about the social impact of such developments on the community, especially on young people.

“We are looking at how to improve the behaviour and attitude of our people, especially the youth,” he added.

The KANGIS boss warned that the government would not tolerate individuals or organisations operating outside the law.

“Anybody that thinks he is above the law, the law will work on him in a legitimate way,” he said.

He assured residents that the government would continue to respond to their concerns.

“I am calling on the community to know that the government is with them. Our doors are open for complaints,” Sani said.

He added that the state government remains committed to policies that benefit the people.

“Kano is first. Anything that will benefit Kano and its people, we will pursue it until we succeed,” he said.

The operation is part of ongoing efforts by the state government to enforce planning regulations and address illegal structures across Kano.

Shiites to hold nationwide Ashura processions on Friday

The Islamic Movement in Nigeria has announced it would hold its Ashura processions across the country, on Friday, to mark the martyrdom of Imam Husain, grandson of Prophet Muhammad.

The group, led by Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky, said the processions would take place in more than 600 towns and villages across 23 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

In a statement issued on Wednesday by the media team, the movement said the procession was moved to correspond with Muharram 11, 1448 AH, to align with commemorations in Karbala, Iraq, where Imam Husain and his followers were killed in 680 AD.

According to the statement, “the annual procession is intended to commemorate the events of Karbala, which hold significant religious importance for Shia Muslims worldwide”.

“Ashura, observed on the 10th day of Muharram, marks the martyrdom of Imam Husain at the Battle of Karbala and is commemorated by millions of Muslims globally, particularly adherents of the Shia tradition. “

In Nigeria, the Islamic Movement has organised annual Ashura processions and mourning activities for more than three decades.

Recall that the events typically attract large crowds in major cities and have, at times, generated concerns over security and public order.

We are not part of their fundraising, new platform – League of Imams, Alfas declares

The League of Imams and Alfas in Yorubaland has distanced itself from the proposed launch and establishment of another league of Imams and Alfas in Yorubaland.

The league described the move by some individuals and groups to establish another league as a way to mislead members of the public.

The league made the clarification in a statement made available to DAILY POST on Wednesday in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

The statement, signed by the League’s President and Chief Imam of Ekiti State, Sheikh Jamiu Kewulere, noted that its attention was drawn to the activities of certain individuals and groups organising a fundraising and launch of another league of Imams and Alfas in Yorubaland.

The statement said that the league was established in 1964 by its initiator, Sheikh Adam Abdullahi Al-Ilory, and the founding fathers across the then old Western Region of Nigeria.

They maintained that the League of Imams and Alfas has nothing whatsoever to do with such fundraising exercises, launches, or activities being carried out by any individuals or groups.

The statement added that the league remains committed to its historic mission of fostering harmony, cooperation, and Islamic brotherhood among Muslims in Yoruba Land and Nigeria as a whole.

The statement said “The attention of the League of Imams and Alfas in Yoruba Land, the apex and formost Islamic body in the South-West of Nigeria, has been drawn to the activities of certain individuals and groups who are organizing fundraising programmes, launches, and other activities while falsely portraying themselves as being affiliated with, representing, or acting on behalf of the League of Imams and Alfas in Yoruba Land.

“We hereby state categorically and unequivocally that the League of Imams and Alfas in Yoruba Land, established in 1964 by its initiator Sheikh Adam Abdullahi Al-Ilory and founding fathers across the then Old Western Region of Nigeria, has nothing whatsoever to do with such fundraising exercises, launches, or activities being carried out by those individuals or groups.

“The League strongly condemns any attempt to deceive members of the Muslim community by exploiting the good name, reputation, and long-standing legacy of our revered organisation for personal or group interests. Such actions are misleading, unacceptable, and capable of creating confusion and disunity within the Ummah.

  • Protest erupts in Niger as Diko community rejects 500-hectare land allocation for solar farm

Protest erupts in Niger as Diko community rejects 500-hectare land allocation for solar farm

Residents of Diko in Gurara Local Government Area of Niger State, on Wednesday, staged a protest over the allocation of about 500 hectares of farmland to Abuja Steel Mills Limited for the establishment of a solar farm and industrial park.

The protesters, made up of youths, women, elders and masquerades, marched to the site earmarked for the project, chanting “Ba ma so, ba ma yi” (We do not want it), insisting that the land belongs to their ancestors and should not be taken without their consent.

Some residents alleged that officials of the company had earlier attempted to prospect for solid minerals in the area, contrary to what they said was presented to the community as an agricultural project.

They claimed that some mining equipment belonging to the company had previously been seized and handed over to the police before being released.

A resident, who spoke on condition of anonymity, accused the state government of misleading the community over the purpose of the project, alleging that mining activities, rather than farming, were being planned on the land.

Another resident, Aishatu, described the development as “worrisome and disheartening,” accusing the administration of Governor Mohammed Umar Bago of neglecting the interests of local farmers and vulnerable residents.

The demonstrators urged the government to reverse the allocation, warning that the loss of farmlands could threaten livelihoods and disrupt peace in the area.

The protest came barely a week after the Niger State Government formally handed over the land to Abuja Steel Mills Limited for the development of a solar farm and industrial park at a groundbreaking ceremony in Diko.

During the groundbreaking, Bago described the project as a landmark initiative aimed at reshaping the state’s industrial landscape and attracting sustainable investments.

According to the governor, the solar farm and industrial park are part of his administration’s plan to transform Niger State into a leading investment destination and create jobs for residents.

He also disclosed plans by the government to gazette about 200,000 hectares of land stretching from Diko to Tafa, along the Kaduna border, for industrial development, saying the state intends to leverage the AKK gas pipeline and its vast land resources to become a major industrial hub.

However, the latest protest highlights growing tensions between the government’s drive for industrial development and concerns among local communities over land rights and livelihoods.
