Turkey: When Osimhen leaves, can you find another – Kerimoğlu fires warning to Galatasaray

Now Spor commentator, Tugay Kerimoğlu, has fired a warning to Galatasaray over their striker Victor Osimhen.

Kerimoğlu warned Galatasaray to learn how to play without Osimhen in the squad.

Osimhen is currently recovering from a hand injury he picked up against Liverpool in the UEFA Champions League.

In his absence, Galatasaray recently played a 1-1 draw with Kocaelispor over the weekend, dropping two points in the Turkish Super Lig table.

Galatasaray is now two points ahead of second-position Fenerbahçe on the log.

“As of today, there’s clearly an issue with Icardi. Could there be a better time to win Icardi back? You can start with Icardi at home,” Kerimoğlu said as quoted by Habersarikirmizi.

“I don’t think it’s right to forget about the other players because of one player. When Osimhen leaves, do you have a chance to find another Osimhen? You have to play the games without Osimhen.

“I think opponents know Galatasaray’s weaknesses. They have learned that their midfield is their heart. They have figured out where to press, how to direct the play, and where to deliver the ball.”

Osun intensifies flood prevention measures following FG warning

Following warnings from the Federal Ministry of Environment predicting heavy rainfall in parts of the country, the Osun State Government has outlined steps being taken to mitigate potential flooding following an alert issued by federal authorities.

According to the Ministry, the anticipated downpour is expected between April 13 and April 17, raising concerns over possible flooding in vulnerable areas.

Communities identified as at risk in Osun include Ilesa, Iragbiji, Osogbo and Otan Ayegbaju.

Osun State Commissioner for Environment and Sanitation, Mayowa Adejoorin, in a statement in Tuesday said proactive measures had already been activated.

He explained that drainage systems across the state are undergoing routine desilting to ensure free flow of water adding that rivers and waterways are also being dredged ahead of the rainy season.

Adejoorin said, “The drainages are being desilted as constantly as necessary to prevent any blockage that could lead to flooding.

“The aim is to remove waste and debris that may obstruct water channels and to allow free flow.”

The commissioner disclosed that public awareness campaigns have been intensified to discourage improper waste disposal and warned residents against dumping refuse in drainage channels, noting that such practices contribute significantly to flooding.

“Awareness campaigns are ongoing to caution people against dumping refuse along waterways and channels,” Adejoorin said.

He noted that enforcement measures, including fines and possible prosecution, are in place to ensure compliance.

The commissioner who revealed that the state had recorded minimal flooding incidents in recent years attributed this to sustained environmental management efforts and government support for sanitation initiatives.

Adejoorin said, “In the past three years, we have not experienced serious flooding due to consistent intervention and adequate funding.”

Residents have been urged to cooperate with authorities and adhere to environmental guidelines during the rainy season.

The state government reiterated its commitment to safeguarding lives and property through preventive strategies.

He added that monitoring teams have been deployed to assess high-risk areas and respond promptly to emerging threats.

Rivers: Fubara’s ally defects from APC to ADC

A member of the House of Representatives from Rivers State, Manuchim Umezuruike, has defected from the All progressive Congress, APC, to the African Democratic Congress, ADC, months after joining the ruling party.

It was gathered that the lawmaker is currently attending the ADC convention in Abuja.

Umezuruike, an ally of Governor Sim Fubara during the political crisis in Rivers State, was part of the four Rep members who defected to the APC to support the governor in his bid to take over the structure of the party in Rivers State.

The other Rep members who defected with him to the APC in December 2025 are Boniface Emerengwa, Awaji Abiante, and Boma Goodhead.

It was gathered that none of them may secure a return ticket, allegedly due to their backing of Governor Fubara over FCT Minister Nyesom Wike during the Rivers political crisis.

Galadima To Tinubu: Even A Corpse Will Defeat You In 2027

An opposition party chieftain, Alhaji Buba Galadima, has declared that even a corpse would defeat President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.

“Even if there is no living human being in Nigeria and we bring a corpse in a coffin and put it against President Tinubu, I assure you that that corpse will win the election in 2027,” Galadima said.

Galadima spoke on Tuesday in abuja during the African Democratic Congress (ADC) national convention.

The former Buhari ally hailed the ADC for holding its convention, despite “threats and intimidation,” alleging attempts by the government of the day to frustrate the event.

Stating that the threats almost derailed the convention, Galadima alleged pressure on the owner of the facility used for the event.

“Yesterday around 1 a.m., we got a message that this venue that was acquired for this convention was actually cancelled because the owner was threatened by the powers that be, that if he allowed us to be here, they will revoke his certificate of occupancy,” he said.

Despite the development, the organisers insisted on proceeding with the event, a decision Galadima described as a stand against intimidation.

“The person with whom I was sitting asked me for my opinion, and my opinion was simply that even if Abuja will burn to ashes today, we will hold this convention in this hall. And so we did,” he added.

The politician described the successful hosting of the convention as a “test case” of the opposition’s resolve, warning that further restrictions could be imposed on political activities.

“This is a test ground. Have we not held this convention today here? They may not even allow us to campaign in Nigeria,” he said.

The opposition figure stressed the need for political actors to resist what he termed attempts to dictate the pace and nature of opposition politics in the country.

“It is important that nobody in this country should set the pace on how our political behaviour should be. We must assert ourselves whether they like it or not,” he stated.

He also accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of attempting to weaken opposition parties across the board, naming the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Social Democratic Party (SDP), New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Labour Party, and the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as targets.

“We have seen that the APC and its government have tried to destroy the PDP, the SDP, the NNPP, the Labour Party, and indeed the ADC,” he said.

Galadima declared that the ruling party could be defeated in the 2027 general elections regardless of the circumstances, urging supporters to remain steadfast in the face of what he described as intimidation and political pressure.

“Any attempt to intimidate or to frustrate us, we must stand and say no. It is only our resilience, boldness, and courage that will deliver us,” he said.

The Lagos State Chairman of the Labour Party, Pastor Dayo Ekong, has officially defected to the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), citing ideological alignment and a desire to advance her political aspirations.

Ekong confirmed her defection during an interview with THE WHISTLER on Tuesday, where she also disclosed that she has been appointed the National Vice Chairman of the NDC for the Southwest region.

Explaining her decision to join the NDC instead of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), which has attracted several high-profile politicians, Ekong said her choice was guided by ideology rather than personalities.

“The gladiators — that doesn’t mean their ideology aligns with mine. I looked for a party that I think what it represents aligns with mine. NDC is a people’s party, and I am a people’s person,” she said.

She emphasised her commitment to fairness and inclusivity, noting that her political philosophy centres on service to the people, especially the vulnerable.

“I believe in the vulnerable. I believe everybody should be treated fairly. That is why I joined NDC — because it stands for service to the people,” she added.

Ekong also alluded to internal crises within the Labour Party, stating that prolonged disputes had made it difficult for her to remain.

“The issue of Labour Party, the battle has been ongoing for too long and it’s not progressive for me. I need to move forward in my political pursuit for me to feel that I’m doing the right thing,” she said.

Speaking on the prospects of the NDC ahead of the 2027 general elections, Ekong described the party as a viable alternative for Nigerians seeking a platform free from internal wrangling.

“The truth of the matter is that NDC, that happens to be the people’s party, is a party that believes that Nigerians and the vulnerable can be treated fairly. And to be honest with you, the best party to join right now, free of all the shenanigans and everything that might disturb or disrupt the party, is NDC,” she said.

She expressed confidence in the leadership of the party, particularly its founder, Seriake Dickson, whom she described as experienced and dependable.

“I believe in his headship, his leadership qualities and everything,” she said.

Ekong urged Nigerians, especially those in the Southwest, to join the party, expressing optimism about its growing influence.

“NDC is taking the whole of Nigeria by storm. It’s happening already,” she added.

Delta: Two arraigned over forceful demand of fee from property developer

Following the Delta State government’s directive that anyone caught demanding unlawful payment of development fee, popularly known as “deve”, from a property developer should be arrested and prosecuted, two young men have been arraigned before a Magistrate Court in Warri over the crime.

The arraignment came amid a renewed crackdown on illegal levies in Delta State.

The suspects, Mr. Irikefe Ajueyitsi and Mr. Abubakar Nasiru, were brought before Chief Magistrate E. M. Sowho at Magistrate Court 1, Warri, on a two-count charge bordering on illegal demand and breach of peace.

The developer, Pastor Fred Aghedo, said the demand for development fee prompted him to file a petition with the police.

Prosecuting counsel from the Uvwie Area Command of the Nigerian Police Force, ASP Dicko Wakama, told the court that the accused persons, alongside others still at large, committed the offence on March 12, 2026, at 3rd Marine Quarter Road, Warri.

He alleged that the defendants demanded “deve” from Pastor Fred Aghedo in relation to construction activities on his property.

According to the prosecution, the act contravenes Section 13(1) of the Delta State Public and Private Properties Protection Law, 2018, and is punishable under Section 13(2) of the same law.

ASP Wakama further informed the court that the accused persons also engaged in conduct likely to cause a breach of peace by creating nuisance on the said property.

The offence, he noted, is punishable under Section 249(d) of the Criminal Code, Cap C21, Volume 1, Laws of Delta State of Nigeria, 2006.

However, the defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges.

In her ruling, Chief Magistrate Sowho granted bail to the accused persons and adjourned the case to May 20, 2026, for hearing.

Narrating his ordeal, Pastor Aghedo told the court that the suspects and others allegedly stopped him and a tractor he had hired for land development at the site, insisting that work could not proceed unless he paid the demanded “deve”.
