    Madagali emerges Adamawa APC chairman

The immediate past chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Adamawa State, Hamza Bello Madagali, has emerged as the new state chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

In readjustments and concessions that produced most of the new APC state executives, the immediate past Secretary of the APC is now the deputy chairman, while the secretary is the former state organising secretary, Mustapha Atiku Ribadu.

The new state publicity secretary is the immediate past PDP publicity secretary, Victor Dogo.

The new executives were announced and sworn in on Saturday evening during the state APC congress convened at the Mahmud Ribadu Square, Yola.

The event was the culmination of a series of internal arrangements proceeding from ward and local government congresses across the state.

The return to prominence of Madagali, a kinsman and friend of Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, is seen as particularly significant, considering that he was viewed by many observers as having lost out completely when he became just another new party member after he defected with Fintiri and the governor’s other loyalists from the PDP to the APC two months ago.

Fintiri, who seemed to have planned Madagali’s re-emergence from earlier on, had apparently paved the way when he facilitated the election of the immediate past APC state chairman, Idris Shuaibu, as the party’s new National Vice Chairman for the North-East.

In his remarks after he was sworn in, Hamza Madagali assured all APC members of fair treatment, whatever their status.

Governor Fintiri, who also spoke, said he, as leader of the APC in the state, would work hard to ensure the success of the party at all levels in the coming round of general elections.

FRSC confirms two dead, 20 injured in Kano fatal crash

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Kano Sector Command, has confirmed a fatal road traffic crash that claimed two lives and left 20 others injured on Saturday morning at Wudil T-Junction along Maiduguri Road.

According to a statement issued on Saturday by the Command’s Public Relations Office, the crash occurred at about 9:20 am and involved a DAF trailer loaded with animals, goods, and passengers en route from Wudil Market to Lagos State.

“Preliminary findings indicated that the driver lost control of the vehicle due to speeding while approaching the junction, leading to a collision,” the statement explained.

A total of 30 adult males were involved in the incident.
“Out of this number, 20 sustained varying degrees of injuries, eight were rescued without injuries, while two persons were confirmed dead,” the statement said.

The FRSC rescue team reportedly arrived at the scene within 10 minutes of receiving a distress call at about 9:25 am, carrying out swift evacuation and rescue operations.

The injured victims were taken to Wudil General Hospital for treatment, while the wreckage was cleared to restore normal traffic flow.

Sector Commander, CC Idris Mohammed Lawal, expressed concern over what he described as the persistent disregard for road safety regulations, especially the dangerous practice of conveying passengers in trailers meant for goods and livestock.

He warned that “over-speeding and overloading remain major causes of road crashes,” urging drivers and transport operators to strictly comply with traffic laws.

He also advised members of the public to avoid boarding such unsafe vehicles.

The Command reaffirmed its commitment to improving road safety and reducing fatalities across Kano State.

Two Dead, 3 Injured In Plateau Filling Station Explosion

The Plateau State Police Command has confirmed that two persons were killed and three others injured following an explosion at a filling station in Daffo District, Bokkos Local Government Area of the state.

In a statement on Saturday, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Alfred Alabo, clarified that contrary to reports circulating online, the incident was not a bomb blast but an industrial accident.

“The Plateau State Police Command has been drawn to certain false, misleading and alarmist reports currently circulating, alleging that there was a bomb blast and outbreak of crisis in Plateau State,” the statement read.

It described the claims as “entirely false, unfounded and a deliberate misrepresentation of an unfortunate industrial accident.”

According to the police, the explosion occurred at Natty Petroleum Investment Nigeria Ltd during ongoing repair work on an underground storage tank. The incident happened while artisans were carrying out welding operations at the facility.

“The Plateau State Police Command received a report of an explosion which occurred at Natty Petroleum Investment Nigeria Ltd, a filling station located in Daffo District, while welding repair works were being carried out by artisans,” the statement added.

Following the incident, the Commissioner of Police directed the immediate deployment of officers to the scene to contain the situation and coordinate rescue efforts.

“Upon receipt of the report, the Commissioner of Police immediately directed the Divisional Police Officer to mobilise and lead a team of policemen to the scene,” the command stated.

Emergency responders evacuated the injured victims to Cottage Hospital, Bokkos, where they are currently receiving treatment, while the bodies of the deceased were deposited at the morgue.

“Our men swiftly evacuated the injured victims to Cottage Hospital, Bokkos, while the corpses of the deceased victims were deposited at the morgue,” it said.

The command deployed its Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) unit, also known as the Anti-Bomb Squad, to ascertain the cause of the explosion and rule out any security threat.

“As an additional measure, the Commissioner of Police further deployed the Command’s Explosive Ordnance Unit (EOD) to the scene,” the statement noted.

Preliminary findings by the EOD unit confirmed that the explosion was accidental and not linked to terrorism or the use of improvised explosive devices.

“Our investigation revealed that the incident was purely accidental and was not in any way connected to terrorism or IED explosion orchestrated by any person or group of persons,” the statement noted.

The command confirmed that the explosion claimed two lives, including that of a 24-year-old man identified as Emmanuel Mapak, while three other victims sustained varying degrees of injuries.

“Regrettably, the explosion led to the death of two persons, including one Emmanuel Mapak, 24 years, while three others sustained varying degrees of injuries and are currently receiving medical attention,” the statement added.

The police cautioned residents against the spread of unverified information, warning that such reports could trigger unnecessary panic and tension within the state.

It urged members of the public to rely on official sources for accurate information and reassured residents of its commitment to maintaining peace and security across Plateau State.

EPL: Ex-Chelsea defender Frank Leboeuf predicts Man City vs Arsenal

Former Chelsea defender, Frank Leboeuf, has predicted the scoreline of Sunday’s Premier League match between Manchester City and Arsenal.

Leboeuf shared his thoughts with ESPN FC, pointing to key differences since the two sides last met in the Carabao Cup final back in March, a 2-0 win for Pep Guardiola’s men.

“I think with Saliba and Gabriel together, it is a different defence as well for Arsenal,” Leboeuf said.

“So I think it is going to be harder for Manchester City to beat Arsenal. I would say 2-1 win to City.”

Currently, Mikel Arteta’s side is leading the Premier League table with six points ahead of City.

FRSC reacts to viral video of Abuja CDB incident

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has reacted to public concerns surrounding a viral video of an incident involving one of its patrol teams in the Central Business District of Abuja.

In a statement signed by Osondu Ohaeri, Deputy Corps Commander and Corps Public Education Officer, FRSC described the narrative surrounding the incident as misleading.

The statement read, “The incident occurred on Thursday, April 16, 2026, during a routine traffic enforcement operation by its RS7.14 Central Business District Unit Command.

“Contrary to the misleading narrative being circulated, the incident arose during a routine traffic enforcement operation along the CBD axis, where a vehicle was lawfully intercepted for identifiable traffic violations, including overloading and seatbelt non-compliance. In line with standard procedures, appropriate steps were taken to enforce compliance.

“During the course of the operation, the driver became non-compliant and diverted from lawful directives, creating a scene that attracted public attention and increased tension within the area.

“As the situation evolved, a crowd gathered, thereby raising security concerns and the potential for disorder.

“It is important to categorically state that at no time did any FRSC personnel assault, threaten, or attempt to use force against the driver or any occupant of the vehicle.

“The individual seen in the circulating video holding an iron rod is neither connected to the driver nor to the Corps, but rather a passerby whose actions have been misconstrued to distort the true narrative.

“In line with global best practices in enforcement and conflict management, the FRSC personnel on ground demonstrated a high level of professionalism, restraint, and emotional intelligence.

“The decision to de-escalate the situation, by disengaging and restoring calm, was taken in the interest of public safety, especially given the volatile crowd dynamics at the scene.

“The Corps emphasises that this action should not be misinterpreted as weakness or compromise of enforcement standards, but rather as a strategic and responsible approach to prevent escalation, protect lives, and maintain public order.

“To this end, the Corps wishes. to reiterate that it remains committed to its core mandate of ensuring safer roads while upholding the highest standards of professionalism, discipline, and respect for human rights.”

The Corps further urged members of the public to disregard misleading content and continue to cooperate with law enforcement officers in the discharge of their lawful duties.

The clarification follows a viral video in which FRSC officials were accused of harassing citizens. It was alleged that the Corps official struck a man with an iron rod during a confrontation.

Mixed Reactions Follow Burna Boy’s Interview With Ebuka

Burna Boy has come under fresh social media attention after a resurfaced interview with media personality Ebuka Obi-Uchendu began circulating online, sparking renewed discussions among music fans.

In the widely shared clip, the Grammy-winning artist appears on a talk show hosted by Ebuka, where he is asked directly whether he considers himself arrogant.

Reacting to the question, Burna Boy asked the interviewer if he understood the meaning of arrogance. Ebuka responded that that was the reason he posed the question.

The singer then replied that if Ebuka was asking such a question, it meant he already knew the meaning, adding that the media personality could not ask a question whose meaning he did not understand.

In response, Ebuka said he would ask ChatGPT, prompting Burna Boy to reply that he should go ahead and that he would wait for the answer.

The exchange has since generated mixed reactions online, with many viewers focusing on the singer’s tone and body language during the conversation.

Some fans suggested that Burna Boy’s manner of looking at the interviewer conveyed underlying tension, with a few claiming it appeared confrontational.

Others, however, dismissed such interpretations, arguing that the moment was being overanalysed and taken out of context.

A section of social media users criticised the singer, alleging that his response and demeanour reinforced perceptions of arrogance.

Meanwhile, supporters of Burna Boy defended him, stating that his reaction reflected confidence rather than arrogance, and that the question itself was provocative.

Reacting to the post @martha said “Burna Boy is not arrogant at all. People often provoke situations, and when he responds, they label him as arrogant.”

Another reaction from @mally said, “How can he be arrogant when he sat down patiently for you to understand the word you used in the question? He sitting down calmly was his answer cos an arrogant man has no patience to sit with an interviewer who doesn’t even know the meaning of the word arrogance he used in his question. you asked for a chat GPT and he said ok go get it he will wait that right there was the answer cos when you understand the word arrogant you will know my patience shows I ain’t arrogant but principled ..cos you ain’t messing with no average artist..this is a great principled artist that controls big arenas and stadiums all over the world, he won’t lay low for everyone to step on him and mofos got nerves to say they will cancel him like they did to naira Marley ..Burna is carried by God not mere men.”

Also, another X @tkid said, “He is very arrogant!!! Arrogant is described as having an exaggerated sense of one’s own importance, abilities, or worth, often displayed through rude, overbearing, or superior behavior. It signifies a lack of humility, with arrogant individuals acting as if they are better than others. Common synonyms include haughty, conceited, supercilious, and overbearing. He is of the above.”

The resurfaced interview adds to ongoing public discussions around celebrity conduct, media interactions, and how public figures are perceived by audiences.
