Delta Speaker Guwor affirmed as APC candidate amid primary tension

The All Progressives Congress, APC, Warri South-West Constituency on Wednesday gave the incumbent Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Dennis Guwor, an affirmation as he was the only aspirant for the seat.

APC delegates across the 10 wards voted in their localities to affirm Guwor as the party’s candidate for the 2027 general election for the State Assembly.

The exercise was supervised by the Returning Officer for the primary in the local government area, Mr. Ejiro Jamani, alongside party officials at the ward level.

Guwor, who voted in Gbaramatu Ward 4, later converged at the collation centre in Ogbe-Ijoh with other APC stalwarts, including Hon. Thomas Ereyitomi, Commissioner Sam Oligida, Hon. Daniel Mayuku, and Bosin Ebikeme.

Results from the 10 wards were collated and announced at the centre.

In his reaction after the announcement, the Speaker said: “This affirmation is not about one man, but about the will of our people and the unity of our party. I am humbled by the trust reposed in me by the party in Warri South-West.

“It is a call for more service with greater dedication, humility, and accountability. Our focus remains on delivering dividends of democracy to every community in this constituency.”

Guwor, who also chairs the Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures of Nigeria, said the outcome reflected the APC’s solid strength in Delta State.

“What we are witnessing today is the consolidation of a political family that puts people first. The APC in Warri South-West is united, and we are ready to secure a resounding victory for the party in 2027. This is about continuity, stability, and development for our people,” he added.

Party stakeholders described the exercise as peaceful and orderly and commended the party leadership for its efforts to secure 100% votes for APC candidates in 2027.

However, a demand for the original result sheet stalled the APC House of Assembly primary for Ekurede-Ugbori-Ugbuwangue Ward at Ogiame Primary School, Warri, Delta State.

The prospective voters vowed not to allow a repeat of what happened on Monday during the senatorial primary of the party.

They lamented that they were given plain paper as result sheets during the senatorial primary on Monday, May 18, on which counted votes were recorded, only for them to later see results from the party leadership on result sheets bearing the APC logo, with figures contrary to what was declared and signed by the aspirants’ agents at Ogiame Primary School.

The APC presiding officer assigned to conduct the primary at Ogiame Primary School and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) official had to be escorted from the voting centre by some community leaders, relatives, and associates.

Agent of Hon. Matthew Mofe Edema, Mr. Tuoyo Ofuyaekpone, who addressed the large crowd of supporters of Hon. Edema, declared that the House of Assembly primary in Ekurede-Ugbori-Ugbuwangue Ward did not hold because they resisted alleged attempts to manipulate the process in favour of another aspirant, Dr. Augustine Uroye.

Meanwhile, the APC in Isoko North Local Government Area on Wednesday conducted a peaceful primary election for the Delta State House of Assembly, with Engr. Orobosa Ashakah emerging as the party’s candidate for the Isoko North Constituency seat ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The Local Government Returning Officer, Hon. Chika Awunzia, who represented the state party secretariat and collated the results, officially declared Ashakah winner of the primary after scoring the highest number of votes.

Awunzia described the exercise as peaceful, orderly, and successful, noting that the conduct of party members and officials reflected the APC’s commitment to internal democracy and transparent electoral processes.

The primaries were conducted across the 13 wards in the LGA by various ward returning officers.

Officials of INEC, journalists, and election observers who monitored the process also adjudged the exercise peaceful and calm.

Party faithful and stakeholders turned out in large numbers at the designated centres across the local government area to participate in the primaries.

Speaking with journalists shortly after his emergence, Engr. Ashakah expressed appreciation to party leaders, supporters, and stakeholders for their encouragement and support throughout the process.

“I want to sincerely thank our party leaders for their continuous support and encouragement, as well as everyone who has contributed to my growth and success,” he said.

He also expressed gratitude to Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for his support and goodwill.

“I thank God for making today possible, and I promise not to disappoint those who believe in me. By the grace of God, I will continue to do my best and make everyone proud,” Ashakah added.

Observers at the exercise commended the orderly conduct of the primaries, noting that the peaceful atmosphere reflected unity and cooperation among party members in Isoko North.

In Oshimili South Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly, there was a massive turnout of party faithful at Ugbomanta Ward 8 in Oshimili South LGA as supporters gathered to affirm the member representing Oshimili South Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly (DSHA), Bridget Anyafulu, as the APC’s sole candidate in the party primaries.

Speaking shortly after the hitch-free exercise, Hon. Anyafulu described the direct primary process as transparent, inclusive, and people-oriented.

She commended the leadership of the party for creating an atmosphere that allowed members to openly participate in the selection of candidates.

The lawmaker, who emerged as the sole aspirant for the constituency, said the overwhelming support from party members reflected the confidence and acceptance she enjoys among her constituents.

Hon. Anyafulu also praised the conduct of the primaries, noting that the process reduced unnecessary financial pressure on aspirants while giving ordinary party members the opportunity to freely choose their preferred candidate.

According to her, the exercise was a strong indication that democracy in Nigeria continues to improve, adding that active participation by the people remains the foundation of credible leadership.

Speaking on expectations ahead of another tenure, the lawmaker assured constituents that lessons learned during her first term would enable her to deliver improved representation and better results.

She stated that governance is a continuous learning process that requires constant interaction with the people, stressing that constructive criticism and community engagement have played a significant role in shaping her leadership style.

Hon. Anyafulu further expressed delight over the impressive turnout of supporters despite her emergence as a consensus candidate, describing the development as evidence of her strong connection with the grassroots.

‘I caught my ex-wife cheating’ – MC Fish alleges amid Frank Edoho’s marital drama [VIDEO]

Popular Nigerian hypeman, Real MC Fish, has accused his ex-wife, actress Anita Joseph, of having extramarital affairs with some prominent men in society.

MC Fish made the allegations on Wednesday while reacting to Frank Edoho’s marital drama on the internet.

DAILY POST reports that Frank, a popular Nigerian media personality, had accused his wife, Sandra Edoho, of cheating with singer Chike.

In response, Sandra also accused Frank of cheating on her with multiple celebrities, with the estranged couple sharing evidence to back up their claims.

Reacting to the controversy, MC Fish, who advised men not to condone cheating, disclosed that he left his marriage with Anita Joseph after he allegedly caught her cheating with multiple men whose identities, according to him, would shock Nigerians if he mentioned their names.

He said, “The news that’s spreading is that Frank Edoho and Mrs Sandra Edoho are in an entanglement with a singer. First of all, as someone who has first-hand experience on this issue, cheating in marriage. First of all, both parties are wrong, but one party is more wrong. Which one be say your husband is cheating on you and you too are cheating back?

“There’s no direct solution to a woman who has left her marriage to cheat on you consistently. My advice to my fellow men is if you notice changes in the way your woman behaves towards you or talks to you, please sit down with her and ask her what the problem is before you go and do your own FBI because dem no dey monitor women. Imagine a man hearing his wife talking to another man in that manner about something that is so forbidden and they did not stop despite the warning. Omo, Mr Frank, I really commend you for your patience and maturity. You’re one of the most patient and mature men I have met in this country.

“For those of you thinking I don’t have every right to speak in this case, I have every right because cheating in marriage, I have experienced it. You all know the story. Both parties cheated, and I’m not even denying the fact that I’m absolving myself of blame. She cheated too with countless numbers of people that if I even mention, the whole country will first pause if I decide to mention names. Because of the cheating, I had to leave the marriage because I’m not going to do something that will now embarrass the two of us in public. I left the house in July 2025; she’s the one that later brought it out to the public in December. I have moved on with my life,” he stated.

Kebbi APC slams Senator Maidoki over alleged inciting remarks

The Kebbi State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has cautioned Senator Garba Musa Maidoki against what it described as attempts to incite the public over his political grievances.

The party issued the warning following remarks allegedly made by the senator during a rally in Zuru, where he reportedly criticised the state government and the Zuru Emirate Council.

In a statement signed by the APC State Chairman, Alhaji Muhammad Abubakar Kana Zuru, the party described Maidoki’s comments against Governor Nasir Idris and the Emir of Zuru, Alhaji Muhammad Sanusi Mika’ilu Sami Gomo III, as irresponsible and politically motivated.

The APC said the senator’s recent actions stemmed from frustration linked to his political situation and rejected allegations suggesting the party was facing internal crisis in the state.

The party chairman maintained that the APC in Kebbi State remained united under the leadership of Governor Idris, stressing that there was no division within the party.

According to the statement, Maidoki’s resignation from the APC was based on what the party termed “unfounded claims” of internal disagreements.

The party also defended the Emir of Zuru against allegations of partisanship, describing him as a respected traditional ruler whose leadership transcends political and religious affiliations.

The APC further urged the senator to take responsibility for his political challenges instead of blaming the party, the governor or the emirate council.

It added that the people of Kebbi South have the right to choose leaders they believe can effectively represent their interests.

It would be recalled that Maidoki announced his resignation from the APC in a letter dated May 14, 2026, addressed to the party’s Ward Chairman in Rafin Zuru Ward, Zuru Local Government Area of Kebbi State, barely a day before the party’s senatorial primaries in the state.

The senator had cited alleged internal crises within the party as the reason for his resignation, claiming that the situation negatively affected his political aspirations.

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has assured travellers and aviation stakeholders that there is currently no confirmed case of Ebola virus disease in the country, despite heightened concerns following reported outbreaks in parts of Central Africa.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, FAAN said it had intensified preventive measures at international airports nationwide to guard against any possible importation of the virus into Nigeria.

The Authority disclosed that “robust health surveillance and monitoring systems” have already been activated across all international airports to ensure early detection and prompt response to any suspected case.

FAAN explained that it is working closely with the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention, Port Health Services and other relevant agencies to strengthen passenger screening procedures, especially for travellers arriving from high-risk regions.

According to the Authority, passengers are currently being screened for symptoms associated with Ebola, while any suspected case is “immediately isolated and subjected to secondary medical evaluation in line with national and international health protocols.”

The agency further stated that it has intensified staff sensitisation programmes, reinforced emergency response procedures and improved coordination with airport stakeholders to ensure swift action if required.

While reiterating that Nigeria remains free of any confirmed Ebola infection, FAAN urged passengers to remain calm and cooperate fully with health officials during screening exercises at airports.

Travellers were also advised to promptly report any symptoms or health concerns to relevant authorities as part of efforts to protect public health and maintain safe airport operations across the country.
