    CAC announces suspension of company registration portal in Nigeria

    The Corporate Affairs Commission has announced a temporary suspension of the companies’ registration portal.

    The Commission made this known in a statement on its X account on Wednesday.

    DAILY POST reports that CAC confirmed an unfortunate incident of a cyberattack on its database affecting millions of data points in Nigeria.

    According to the statement, CAC’s portal suspension is expected to last for three days, from 17th April to Monday the 20th.

    CAC noted that it is in collaboration with the National Information Technology Development Agency to mitigate the incidence.

    Similarly, the Nigeria Data Protection Commission announced the commencement of an investigation into the data breach on Friday, he said.

    “To serve you better, we will be carrying out scheduled maintenance on our portal this weekend, from 12:00 midnight today, 17th April 2026, to 6:00 a.m. on Monday, 20th April 2026.

    “During this period, the portal may be temporarily unavailable,” CAC stated.

    Abia State Governor, Alex Otti has expressed shock following the sudden death of a medical expert, Dr. Uzoma Nwaubani, after a brief illness.

    Nwaubani, who returned from the United States of America to participate in the ongoing Association of Nigerian Physicians in Americas, ANPA ,free medical outreach in Abia State, died after developing a medical emergency.

    A statement personally signed by the Abia State Governor, Alex Otti , said that the late Dr. Nwaubani, who was rushed to the hospital after developing the medical emergency, died despite the gallant efforts made by a skilled medical team to resuscitate her.

    “She had returned from the United States with her husband– a true son of Abia and her daughter, a final year medical student in the US to offer her medical expertise free of charge to citizens of our dear state, a sacrifice that marks her out as a compassionate and exemplary medical practitioner, alongside other ANPA volunteers.

    “I hereby wish to express my deepest sympathy to the family, loved ones as well as commiserate with the Association of Nigerian Physicians in the Americas”, Otti mourned.

    The Abia State Governor commended the family of the late physician for not suspending the ongoing free medical outreach because of the tragedy, noting that his administration would continue to prioritize the health of the people.
