Popular Nigerian content creator, Shank has stirred reactions online after opening up about a personal clash with his mother over tattoos, while also revealing a fresh body ink linked to his “Lit Gang” identity.

The revelation surfaced in a recent viral video shared on his social platforms, where he recounted the moment he tattooed his mother’s name, “Oluremi,” on his arm.

According to him, what he expected to be an emotional moment quickly turned tense.

“The day I tattooed my mum’s name on my arm, she started crying and quoting Bible,” Shank said.

He explained that his mother strongly opposed the act, citing religious reasons and warning him against marking his body.

“She told me, ‘did I ask you to draw my name? I don’t like it. Don’t do tattoo again. God said don’t mark your body,’” he recalled.

Shank, however, said he challenged her stance by pointing out what he described as a contradiction.

“I asked her, if you say I should leave my body the way God created it, why do you shave your hair? You that shave hair and me that draw tattoo, we are committing the same sin,” he added.

The content creator used the moment to advise young people navigating similar situations with parents, stressing the importance of independence when making personal decisions.

“Just make sure you’re independent before doing what your parents are not comfortable with,” he said.

Amid the conversation, Shank also unveiled a new tattoo on his back with the inscription “Lit Gang,” a move that has further fueled reactions among fans.

While some social media users backed his argument on personal choice and self-expression, others sided with his mother, citing cultural and religious concerns about body markings.

The Consulate General of Nigeria in Johannesburg has issued a safety advisory to Nigerian nationals in South Africa ahead of planned nationwide anti-foreigner protests scheduled for Monday, May 4, 2026.

The advisory, released on Sunday and signed by the Consul General, Ambassador Ninikanwa Okey-Uche, warned citizens to remain alert following reports of coordinated demonstrations across all nine provinces of South Africa.

According to the mission, it received intelligence that anti-foreigner groups have been mobilising residents through circulated messages calling for a nationwide shutdown aimed at pressuring authorities to take action against foreign nationals.

The organisers are reportedly alleging that foreigners benefit disproportionately from South Africa’s resources and are demanding the removal of both documented and undocumented migrants.

The groups are also planning street marches intended to push for the exit of foreign nationals from the country.

While protests are expected across multiple regions, the consulate noted that specific assembly points have not been confirmed in most cities.

However, in Johannesburg, demonstrators are expected to gather at Mary Fitzgerald Square in Newtown.

The march is scheduled to take place between 10 a.m. and 11 a.m., with a memorandum expected to be presented to authorities around noon.

Security concerns have been raised over possible disruptions in major business districts, including Johannesburg, Pretoria, Cape Town, and Durban.

The consulate urged Nigerians to exercise caution and avoid any form of confrontation with protesters.

“All Nigerian nationals are strongly advised to avoid engaging demonstrators or confronting them,” the advisory stated, adding that citizens should stay informed through local media and take necessary safety precautions.

Nigerian business owners were also advised to consider temporarily closing their businesses during the period of the protests, amid concerns that foreign-owned establishments could be at risk.

Nigeria consulate warns citizens ahead of South Africa anti-foreigner protests

Following a recent incident in which suspected villagers pelted a moving train with stones along the Abuja-Kaduna highway, the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has raised fresh concerns over escalating attacks on its train operations rail corridor.

Around kilometre 177 on the Abuja-Kaduna highway, the Corporation explained that the attack on the train took place where a group of unidentified persons gathered along the rail track and hurled stones at a passing train, damaging the windscreen of the lead locomotive.

Callistus Unyimadu, the NRC spokesman, in a statement, stated that the development is alarming, saying that similar incidents have been recorded in the past two weeks, including Gidan Busa/Sarki Gora Village in Kakau District, Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

According to the statement, “About six attacks have been documented along the corridor within this period, posing significant threats to passenger safety, railway personnel, and critical infrastructure.”

The statement also explained that the repeated acts are not only dangerous but amount to economic sabotage capable of disrupting national transportation and undermining government investments in the railway sector.

The NRC observed that train services have continued under heightened safety measures, with railway staff maintaining strict vigilance to ensure passengers reach their destinations safely despite the attacks.

The NRC said that efforts are ongoing in collaboration with security operatives, community leaders, and other stakeholders to strengthen surveillance, identify those responsible, and bring perpetrators to justice with a view to bringing an end to the attacks.

It enjoined communities residing along railway lines to support the protection of railway infrastructure by reporting suspicious activities to authorities and discouraging criminal actions.

It warned that continued attacks could disrupt service delivery if urgent and collective action is not taken.

NRC raises alarm over incessant attacks on train along Abuja-Kaduna highway

Kelechi Iheanacho was happy to be the match winner for Celtic once again, and is determined to keep contributing to the team’s success.

Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency, LASEPA, has shut down more than 40 facilities across Lagos State for breaching established noise pollution regulations.

The General Manager of the agency, Babatunde Ajayi, made this known over the weekend during an inter-district essay competition organised for selected secondary schools in Lagos.

Ajayi said the enforcement exercise is part of ongoing efforts to reduce excessive noise levels across the state, adding that the crackdown has covered religious centres, entertainment spots, event venues, and other major contributors to noise pollution.

He explained that noise control enforcement has been sustained over time as part of the agency’s routine regulatory operations.

“The noise pollution problem we have in Lagos is something we have keenly addressed over the past few years. We have continued and sustained enforcement across board,” he said.

According to him, over 40 facilities were sealed within the space of a week, stressing that such monitoring and enforcement activities have become continuous.

He, however, expressed concern that some operators still flout environmental rules even after being penalised, warning that persistent offenders risk permanent closure.

Ajayi also outlined the approved permissible noise levels across different categories of land use in the state.

He stated that educational environments have the lowest threshold at about 35 decibels, while residential areas are permitted up to 65 decibels during the day and 55 at night.

He added that mixed-use zones allow slightly higher levels, while commercial areas are permitted up to 70 decibels during daytime operations.

Industrial zones, he noted, have the highest limit, reaching up to 90 decibels during the day.

Residents were urged to familiarise themselves with these standards and comply fully with environmental guidelines to help reduce noise pollution in the state.

Speaking at the event, the Head of the Noise Control Unit at LASEPA, Abosede Natufe, encouraged participating students to serve as advocates for noise awareness within their communities.

She said the essay competition was designed to improve understanding of noise regulation and promote responsible environmental behaviour among young people.

The winner of the 2026 International Noise Awareness Day competition, Ayodele Oluwanifemi of Alimosho Senior Grammar School, also called for stronger enforcement of noise control laws nationwide.

LASEPA reaffirmed its commitment to sustained enforcement and compliance monitoring, noting that the initiative is aimed at promoting a healthier and more livable environment across Lagos State.

LASEPA seals over 40 facilities for noise pollution violations in Lagos

Elders from different communities in Bende local government have called on traditional rulers to urgently intervene in the political tension involving their two sons, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu and the Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu.

The elders made the call when they visited Eze Anthony Okorochukwu of Bende ancient kingdom, Bende LGA.

Led by the former Chairman of the local government area, Emmanuel Onwuchekwa, the elders urged the monarchs to advise former Abia State Governor, Orji Uzor Kalu to end his rift with Deputy Speaker, Benjamin Kalu and toe the path of peace.

According to them, the Deputy Speaker is not in any way against the ambition of Senator Kalu to contest for Senate in 2027 election.

“Ben is not stopping Senator Orji Uzor Kalu from contesting for Senate.

“They are contesting for two different positions. Why then should there be this level of hostility?

“We don’t want any war between Igbere and Bende. We have had enough of this”, the elders said.

Governor Inuwa Yahaya has blocked Senator Danjuma Goje from getting another Senate ticket, endorsing Jamilu Isyaku Gwamna as the APC’s consensus governorship candidate for the 2027 election in Gombe State.
The decision was announced at a stakeholders’ meeting. This comes after a long-standing political clash between the governor and Goje since the 2023 elections.

Goje, a four-term senator aiming for re-election, was recently part of a Senate delegation that met President Bola Tinubu to seek automatic tickets for lawmakers, but the request was reportedly turned down.

The party also released a list of consensus candidates for other positions. Mohammed Ahmadu Deba is picked for Gombe Central Senate, Jerry Damara for Gombe South, while Inuwa Yahaya is set to run for Gombe North Senate.

For the House of Representatives, candidates include Usman Bello Kumo (Akko), Inuwa Garba (Yamaltu/Deba), Ali Isa (Balanga/Billiri), Fatima Binta Bello (Kaltungo/Shongom), Saddam Bello (Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye), and Jamilu Shabewa (Dukku/Nafada).

Recall that Sheikh Isa Pantami, a former minister and governorship aspirant has since rejected the consensus.

More reactions are expected as the APC braces to support the chosen ones to run for various positions in Gombe.

Inuwa insists on Gwamna for 2027 governorship seat in Gombe, blocks Goje from senate

A constitutional lawyer, Fred Nzeako, has said that the Supreme Court ruling, in which it referred the African Democratic Congress, ADC, back to the Federal High Court, is not a setback for the party.

The Supreme Court had, while annulling the ruling of the Court of Appeal that prohibited the acknowledgment of Senator David Mark’s leadership as the National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, referred the case back to the Federal High Court.

On Thursday, the apex Court determined that the preservative order issued by the Court of Appeal was made in bad faith, unnecessary, unwarranted, and improper.

In a unanimous decision by the Supreme Court, Justice Mohammed Lawal Garba stated that the Court of Appeal should not have issued such an order, as it was not requested by any of the involved parties.

The Court of Appeal had previously issued an order of status quo ante bellum, which resulted in the de-recognition of David Mark and Aregbesola by INEC.

Many, especially the supporters of the African Democratic Congress, had felt that the Supreme Court judgement is a trap and a major setback to the party’s progress ahead of the general elections.

However, speaking on Arise News, Ezeako said “I don’t think the Supreme Court asking them to go back to the Federal High Court is a setback.

“I’ll tell you how it is not. As we speak, there’s leadership of ADC headed by David Mark. There is no court pronouncement disqualifying their position. They have been elected by the NEC of the party.

“ADC has leadership, and that leadership is headed by Senator David Mark. Why I say they are not in a tight corner is that the matter in court can be going on.

“That’s why I warned INEC about their future actions. They have no reason not to interact with David Mark leadership.

“The law says, give notice. Once you have given that notice of 21 days, which they copiously did, whether INEC observes or not, is their business, they must not, and whether they observe or not does not nullify the convention.

“They have to satisfy the provisions of the law. It is now left to INEC to accept it only to observe or not observe.

“One of the major things that people have been talking about is that INEC has, by their timetable, by their timeline, said all political party must submit their register membership registers by May 10. Yes, you don’t need membership register to conduct a general election.

“You don’t, because not every Nigerian must belong to political parties, but every Nigerian is authorized by law to go and vote. All you need is to have your own voters register to conduct the election.

“You can now ask, what is the essence of the party register? It is only to ensure that, because when you conduct direct primaries, all members of the party will be involved, which is a very wicked provision that the National Assembly has inserted in the Electoral Act. They know why they did it. They did it primarily to harm the opposition parties because they made a provision that it is either you decide by consensus or by direct primaries.

“What is wrong with indirect primaries? We have argued this over and over again that there is nothing wrong with indirect primaries and there’s nothing wrong with direct primaries, but direct primaries are almost like going for a major election, because what it means is that all around the country, you will conduct votes.”

2027: Why Supreme Court referring ADC back to High Court not setback – Nzeako

Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, has said that the major reason the opposition may feel it is being destroyed is simply because the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, is performing beyond expectations.

The Governor stated this during an interview on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, saying the APC is performing better than the opposition political parties.

“If anything is destroying the opposition parties, it’s our performance because we [in the APC} are performing better than they ever expected,” the governor said.

Speaking further, Sule said this is the time he wants President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to win the 2027 presidential election more than any other time.

According to the governor, he believes in the President’s economic reforms, adding “His economic reforms have been very beneficial to Nasarawa State.”

Governor Sule also said that his predecessor, Umaru Al-Makura did not pick him from the dustbin, adding that the former governor did not bring him into office.

He said, “He supported me when I was coming into office. He didn’t pick me from the dustbin; he picked me as a group managing director of a quoted company.

“He is not my godfather; he mentored me into politics.”

2027: APC performance destroying opposition parties – Gov Sule

The Nigerian Democratic Congress, NDC, and Allied Peoples Movement, APM, might be hit by a fresh crisis as its National Legal Adviser, Barr. Reuben Egwuaba, allegedly holds dual membership in both opposition parties.

In a document seen by DAILY POST at the weekend, Egwuaba holds the position in both parties, according to records with the Independent National Electoral Commission. The development, according to electoral reform advocates, runs contrary to the country’s revised Electoral Act.

Checks by DAILY POST on the INEC website, www.inecnigeria.org, confirm that Egwuaba is listed as the National Legal Adviser for both APM and NDC.

Reacting, activist Julius Aondowase, in a statement on Sunday, said Egwuaba’s dual membership is not a clerical oversight. It is a serious legal contradiction with far reaching implications.

“By virtue of the amended electoral provisions, particularly the modification of Section 77, belonging to more than one political party at the same time is expressly prohibited. The law is clear and uncompromising: any individual found guilty of dual party membership is liable to a fine of up to ₦10 million and or a prison term of up to two years.

“The position of National Legal Adviser is not symbolic; it is a core office within a party’s National Executive Committee (NEC), which requires full and exclusive membership of that party. Therefore, occupying this role in both the APM and NDC simultaneously is not only politically improper. It constitutes prima facie evidence of dual membership and a potential criminal offence under Nigerian law.

“This situation demands urgent clarification from all parties involved. If these records are accurate, then this is a clear violation of the law. If they are not, then the public deserves an immediate correction and explanation as to how such conflicting information came to be officially documented.

“Therefore, I call on relevant authorities, including electoral regulators, to investigate this matter without delay and take appropriate action in line with the law.

“Nigeria’s democracy must be governed by rules, not convenience,” he said.

The development comes as Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso, former governors of Anambra and Kano states, defected to NDC.
